Do I really need relic weapon for the maint story line!?

To have finished the job quests is a requirement to start the relict quest, but the relict quest is not part of the jobquests. It is a sidequest.

But isn't the Relic mandatory for the 2.1 questline? I distinctly remember reading that you needed the Zenith for a main story quest.

You need to clear Ifrit HM, Garuda HM, and Titan HM to unlock first Coil. Which all happen to be the requirements for making your i80 base Relic.

Whether or not you want to upgrade it further is up to you, but you really should make it if you have nothing better.

I need your guidance for relic weapons. I am at item level 48-50 something. I need it54 to beat the moogle king. How do I get relic weapons to advance in the main scenario quest? I am a summoner.

I'd say go ahead and get your relic weapon. Its a weapon you can always have and you can upgrade it at whatever pace you want. "Its better to have something then nothing". Also, at this point, you'll get carried thru the relic reborn quest, with it being a joke now. Go get your relic.

To get your relic you need to beat Titan Hard Mode which requires an ilvl of 57.

So should you worry about getting the relic for Thornmarch / Moggle Mog? No. Go to your grand company and buy the ilvl 55 weapon. You're going to want to use that to get through the primals anyway.

Should you get your relic before trying the other post-50 dungeons that require an ilvl of 60+? Yes. You can run Garuda, Ifrit, Thornmarch, and Titan to get ilvl 60, 70, 75, or 80 weapons but the relic is the best way to get an ilvl 90+ weapon.

Once you've gotten your relic up to 90 it's up to you if you want to continue it. Right now it is easier to buy the ilvl 100 soldiery weapon and upgrade it to 110 than it is to get your relic up to 110. Buying the soldiery weapon is 1300 soldiery and a drop from Syrcus Tower/Second Coil. Getting the relic from 90 to 100 needs 9 books at 500 soldiery each=4500 soldiery. But currently getting your relic from 110 to 125 is arguably easier than buying the ilvl 120 poetics weapon and upgrading it to 125 since poetics has a weekly cap and you need a drop from Final Coil. By the time the expansion lands this summer the poetics weapon will probably be as "easy" to get as the soldiery weapon is now.

This is all true. Getting a Zenith Weapon is the fastest way to get ready for ilvl60+ dungeons however the primal weapons can also help out a lot

I just don't recommend running Titan Hard 40+ times just to get the weapon drop like some people may have...

The main issue for new 50's is getting up to item level to get into dungeons to get tomes to get better gear.

You do not need the relic for the storyline but getting up to i60 (leviathan) i65 (ramuh) i70 (syrcus tower) i80 (shiva) is a little more difficult now with the i90 gear being stuck in the new dungeons you cant access until i80.

With an i90 zenith relic (complete chimera, hydra, ifrit, garuda, titan, amdapor keep and a handful of soldiery) You will be well on your way to getting to i80 to finish the complete main storyline up to 2.4.

I would recommend getting the relic and upgrading it to zenith as doing the trials will give you an idea of the skill (dodging etc..) you are going to require to progress further past the primals in the story.

As someone above said you need to beat Titan HM to get your Relic weapon or at least I did for WAR back in summer, you just start Relic Reborn questline at lv50 (after end credits/2.0).
Then fight the Primals HM versions with your inprogress weapon equiped - after that I'm not sure got lazy and just relied on i90/100 for awhile lol, just started Atma/Zodiacked questline this week.
Anyway the Primals HM (picked up from Walking Sands I think) are easier then you think with good gear equiped (depends on your iLevel, I was crazy powerful), just run them with some FC friends and it'll be fine, thats what I did.

EDIT: OP just looked at your character on Lodestone, Armour/Weapon looks good for Ifrit HM BUT you could with iLv50+ Accessories as the current ones are low level. Get tomes, HM dungeon drop, raid gear if you can or hit the Markets until you get better gear from raids (drops, tome ect lol).
