The current target system is incredibly hard to get used to and is very clunky.I think its a bit of hinderance to new players and tends to scare some off.

I'm not really sure what happened between here and FFXI in the sake of the targeting system but it was alot easier there than it is here.

I think a possible, and really simple temp fix lies in an already set up system.

If you go to Configurations > Keyboard > Targeting > and Cycle through enemy targets, the basic idea is already installed in game.

The current problem with that Cycle through, is it targets ANYTHING that you can see as an enemy, even if you or your group is not engaged with it, the potential is there for it to be a target, so its part of the cycle. When I 1st found this I thought I found a fix to my issues with quick targeting enemies, however I was dismayed to find out it can cycle through any visible mob, even ones that are outside the fight.

If one was to just change it so that it will only cycle through currently engaged or enemies attacking you/party and I think you're on the right steps to addressing the issues with the clunky targeting. (and help make multiple mob fights alittle smoother)

Not really a big deal perhaps, but for off tanks, or instances when you do a leve and there are lots of non-leve mobs around (think a leve in the mines) trying to fast target an enemy to get it off your mage, or even to ensure your actually hitting the correct targets, would make things alot easier.
