REQUEST: Strafe on controller.

Requesting to add a strafe function for us that use controllers on consoles and on PC.
Possibly by holding down L1 while moving and not holding L2/R2 for the crossbar, or just let us assign a button.

I am completely convinced that playing from the controller is lowering our DPS but facing us in the direction we're running, away from the target, and causing us not to auto-attack while running to the side.

I know you can lock on and that will let you strafe, but this isn't what we need for two reasons. It causes us to circle the target rather than just run to the side, and if we run away from the target, we simply moonwalk slowly, causing us to get plumed.

I don't know if this helps, but I play with an XBOX 360 controller on my PC. If I'm not mistaken, controllers with the L3 and R3 functions will have the L3 default to lock-on to what you've targetted and you can strafe like that. If you have a similar controller, you could try clicking in the L3 stick and see if that helps you.

KB/Mouse setup has two keybinds for strafe.
I usually set mine to Q and E when using the WASD keys for movement.

but what he is asking for is a toggle of some sort. what you suggest greatly inhibits ones ability to dodge an AoE by moving backwards. with no quick way to return to default.

while i do feel that, for the OP's situation, lock-on target should suffice plenty fine.

i also think it would be great to have the toggle, because i do love to change the control scheme depending what i am doing in the game. so it would be nice to have a toggle feature. an action we can bind to the XHB or something.

Lock on and strafing are not the same thing.

Lockon makes your circle your target as well as slows you down to walk speed if you even slightly have the analog stick tilted back.
(which WILL happen often)

Lockon also auto-zooms in the camera at the most unwanted of times.

I just want to be able to hold L1, move the analog stick right, and strafe right.

Also why when in legacy mode, if i turn left the camera turns left too... If I want my screen to face a certain direction then why change it for me? Why does the camera fight the direction I turn it to when I'm running anywhere but straight? Makes me want to throw up because of all the unnecessary motion.
