It would be a ton more work for virtually no gain. It would make a few people happy but most wouldn't notice. Several of my friends had never noticed any palette swaps in this game, though obviously they weren't looking for them.
I believe they touched on it during one of the fanfests. It's a resource issue.

On the game design side, it’s desirable to optimize the number of models added in a single patch to limit the amount of work to be done, so in some cases they look to see if items can be recycled from other titles. That said, in comparison with the original FFXIV, there have already been three to four times more new items created.

It would be better to make spell speed usefull for the pet and the DoTs imo SMN seems to need some improvement, although it's just secondary stats...
Sorry, Having Spell speed on Smn gear means that you have wasted that stat. That 44 points of spell speed could be used in crit, Det. Acc. Hell...even pie would be better. I think its one of the main reasons that Smns have been having problems in FCOB and are falling behind all the DPS classes is because of all the spell speed wasted on Smn gear. You can argue all you want but making Real sets for Smn and Blm and would fix a few of the problems. Myth sets part 2 please!!
I actually like the way the Healer gear looks in this. I'm not really a fan of that BLM gear though.
All that answer told me was "we like melees better, so we'll make most of their gear different."
This apparently is the truth of the matter, when you look at the ratio of DoW classes to DoM classes. Not only do mages get less options to play as, we have to use the same damn gear as every other mage.
This is bullshit.
They did it for PvP but they can't be half-assed to do it for major raid/instances? It's not like these are 4 man dungeons or tome gear or anything, Coil/24 man is like once every MAJOR patch cycle and they can't devote the time/energy to make unique models for those? Please. Caster/Healer should have their own - Tanks/Light DPS sharing is acceptable. Different -ROLES- sharing is not.
