    Leveling

So I haven't played the game too much in the past 9 months or so and when I played peopled leveled by doing Fates.

I don't see Fate parties anymore and have been doing leve quests but there are 2 problems with that. One leve quets are finite and you need to have access to them, also they can only be done solo and this is an mmo? (I guess one includes 2 things) Two there are sometimes gaps between effective leve's and level. For example level 20 leve but no level 25 leves, no more until 30, you can do grand company ones but they don't give as many and they don't seem to give as much exp.

So what other than leve quests do for leveling? I do also que for dungeons but if you are playing dps it can take a very long time to get into one.

low level duty roulette, dungeon, challenge log, fates and hunting log in that order are the most rewarding imo

There are level 25 leves in Quarrymill, Little Ala Mhigo, and Moraby Drydocks. You'll need to do a quest to unlock them at the camp.

Nowadays btw, the most effective way to level is dungeons. Do your daily roulettes, then queue up for the highest level dungeon you can access.

The highest level dungeon you can access will generally give the most XP during the run, but if you're on a damage dealer class and want to shorten the queue time, you might be better off selecting the top five, just to give yourself a wider array of groups you could potentially be matched with. Or alternately, you could just run roulette again, though in that case there's the danger of winding up in a primal trial rather than a dungeon. (Trials give barely any XP if you don't have the daily bonus available.)

But anyway, yes, dungeons give the best XP, so run as many of those as you can. While waiting in queue for one, search out your hunting log targets and run any FATEs you come across, as those are another two good XP sources. Leve quests, the challenge log, and any sidequests you haven't already completed fill out the remainder for when you get tired of FATEs.

I think one reason there are fewer FATE parties is that a lot of FATE grinding takes place while people are in queue for dungeons. Joining a party or adding/removing members from your party knocks you out of queue, so people stay solo while running FATEs if they're in queue solo at the time.

There's a levequest dealer available every five levels. It's just a matter of finding them (Most require you to 'unlock' them by doing a trial levequest as a battle class first, as mentioned)

Anyway, people did FATE trains in 2.0 because it was almost the only way to level. Since then, however, EXP gains were massively improved from other sources to be on par. The fastest source of EXP in the game is the Low Level Duty Roulette, which you can do once per day and you can expect to get at least one level from. Dungeon EXP in general has skyrocketed and is the most effective way when you can get in.

If you miss the days of FATE trains though you can sometimes find groups in Coerthas or North Than at high levels still. Or Western La Noscea for the 10-20 range simply because of how convenient it is; there's almost always people there.

I would say just do fates and space out your leves so you don't run out of your allowance. While doing those you can either have a chocobo summoned to gain companion exp, or put yourself in a queue for dungeon entry, although if the DF pops while you are doing a leve then the leve will be failed because you have to leave the area. And yes complete hunting log objectives, and unlock the challenge log in upper limsa.

I generally do quests... But that's because I have RP alts galore. Otherwise I do challenge log, hunting log, leves and fates.

As most people mentioned the daily Low Level Duty Roulette reward is the single biggest source of experience (it's like something around 45% of your experience bar for each level).

Aside from that, someone else did mention the challenge log but I just wanted to emphasize that the challenge log is probably the second biggest source of experience. I just took my Warrior from level 41-50 in somewhere around the neighborhood of 5 days by focusing on the challenge log. Do your dungeons, give commendations, do guildhests, do levequeusts, and do FATES. Each one of those things individually gives decent XP but when you complete it's challenge log entry it really boosts you up - and it forces you to change up what you're doing so you shouldn't get too burned out on a single activity (or if you do you can switch since there's a lot to do). If you don't have your challenge log unlocked yet I highly recommend you go make that a priority.

The challenge log directly points you to activities that earn you experience and then rewards you even more for doing those activities. Focus on that (it resets once a week) and you'll be gaining levels very fast.

Most battle leve can be done in a party; my fiancee and I duo our classes up between dungeons/fates/leves with the guildheists as we went up for the bonus completion xp. That said, Leve's can also be done with your chocobo out. The only ones that can't are gathering and crafting leves. It will also not allow you to leve while a party member is in a different zone or instanced.
The character your posting under is a level 50, so you'll have a 50% bonus XP on every kill (up to 100% if also under rested xp) all the way to 50 on battle classes. if you're talking about an alt character, you'll get the 50% bonus upto the highest level you currently have. if your 20, everything gets the bonus to 20.
My fiancee and I just unlocked the Challenge Log, it can give massive xp while leveling. I'm loving it on my goldsmith and miner atm.

We went from 20-50 in about 3 weeks, only playing 17 or so hours a week; without rested xp/with challenge log
