I see it on Sarg sometimes, too. They usually disappear after a ban wave and then slowly trickle back in depending on how often character creation is opened. This is why they are suddenly rampant on heavily populated servers lile Balmung.

Although I do wish reporting bots were simpler, the fact is, SE does have a team work on it and said team IS making a difference.

Because spiritbonding, and running dungeons with 4 blms synced together from one controller/command (aka multiboxing). If only SE wised up to this.

The people from Ul'dah only care about money, it's no surprise the RMT bots come from there.

See, they DO know. They'd have to be blind not to. They have at least three community managers (EU, NA, and JP) all telling them this. Their CS staff is receiving regular reports about this, and their staff that actually PLAYS sees it on a regular basis.
The problem is, squashing them is like squashing the worker bees. The longer these bots are active, the more transactions they do with compromised accounts and RMTers, and as evidenced by a whole slew of them popping up IMMEDIATELY after SE dropped the banhammer on 7000 of them, just banning them will cause them to fire up MORE accounts and do the same exact things.
Thus, they ban them with a large net, rather than a single fishing pole.

It's really getting old seeing people copy/paste SE's official statements on how many accounts they're banning as if they are somehow proving SE cares and is doing anything proactive at all. It's like a bad meme at this point. 6913 accounts banned across 63 servers is a little over 100 accounts per server. That is basically a meaningless gesture in the face of how many RMT-related accounts are out there, and this most recent banning wave was actually considerably larger than the usual amount (I assume it was some sort of extra large once-a-year ban wave). The usual amount being banned per weekly update averages out to like, 12 accounts per server. Only a rube thinks that many removed accounts is having any positive impact on RMT activities. Maybe it's just enough to keep them from completely running rampant over the entire server, but it's not enough to actually decrease the amount of RMT out there on any given day. Which is exactly what SE wants. RMT accounts are still paying accounts (even stolen credit cards are still $$$, after all) and eliminating too many would just end up hurting SE financially, not helping them. They ban enough to keep the game playable and keep the QQ'ers from actually quitting, but only that much. When SE starts banning thousands of accounts across all servers daily, on a consistent weekly basis, then I'll believe they are really trying.

I love how the bots allude to the black mages from FFIX. even botters are Final Fantasy fans, I guess.

Nah, bots probably roll BLM cause it's the easiest class to "program".

Has anyone ever thought of making a character exactly like these bots, but just for the hell of it?

Just saying, but if they were just doing what you mentioned there, and nothing else (RMT actions) this isn't against ToS at all, and is perfectly acceptable. just because you don't/cant/too lazy to do it to make gil, doesn't mean it shouldn't be allowed. its just selling the gains for real money that is not allowed.
