Just a quick question, what gives us (whoever going to write) the right to use trademarked characters and locations of SE? Are you sure we can do this without them saying anything?

cause the last time I heard someone did a fan made FF7 remake got slapped with a lawsuit :P

Indeed, the standard Final Fantasy XIV copyright notices that are required for all websites that use their material win in fact be included with the final version. Credit where credit is due; SE owns the IP, so they get the credit in that regard. Secondary credit goes to individual authors to the extent that is permissible by law under the general ownership of the IP by SE.

+1, but i think someone who enjoys both parties and a MMORPG probably misses the point of both.

That said, i am sincerely expecting some good fanfiction from FFXIV fans! I'm curious to see if someone can actually give color to this subtly bland world we got on our hands here!

Of course we don't expect it. This is just as much for ourselves as it is for them. However, for those that DO read English, if they enjoy it, all the better.

Then 2 questions:

When we submitted, we can still use the text for a blog or something? Not sure if i understood this right.

And...what about a little bonus or something for people who don't have english as a first language? Because when grammar etc. counts, not having grown up with the english language is a huge drawback...just an idea, i don't care about winning, participating is already fun And of course, everyone could pretend to be foreigner...

7'500 is not so much to write, I'm glad you changed the requirements.
