How can you make a macro that assists the tank?

Every macro guide I've read says to do this:

    /assist <1>

    or

    /assist <p1>

.. but when I'm in a party (guildhest, specifically), that button doesn't work. It says <1> or <p1> is an invalid target.

Can someone help? I'm on a PS4 controller and this is the best way I can think of to ensure that I'm consistently targeting what the tank is targeting (without making macros for all of my abilities with <tt>, which would kinda suck).

Are you sure YOU aren't player 1 by default? And personally, I go with

    /ac "whatever" <t>
    /ac "whatever" <tt>

The problem I have with action macros is that you can't queue your next ability when you use them. So, I was just wanting a targeting macro instead.

Also, the guides indicate that you are <0>, and the next person in the list is <1> (but I'm going to try <2>).

I think you can reorder your party to make the tank is always #1 (or whoever). I haven't tried this yet but hopefully it works

Dunno if you got this figured out yet or not, but by default you are p1. You would need to have it set as /assist <2> and depending on how you have your /psort set in options makes a difference as well.

You can have your /psort (party sort) set up in three ways, as tank, heals or DPS and it will order the party in the way in which you want. Tanks first, Heals first, DPS first, in your list; all falling under you of course.

    EX:
    1 You
    2 Heals
    3 DPS
    4 Tank

If you set your /psort to rearrange Tank > Heals> DPS it would look like this after your /psort
    1 You
    2 Tank
    3 Heals
    4 DPS

    Hope that helps.
