I, too, lived in Japan and about half of the ATMs i used would accept neither my mastercard nor my domestic (Japanese) ATM card, despite the ATM card being issued by JP national. It made paying my bills considerably difficult.
So no, this is not completely false. Some of my classmates had to have 2 or more bank accounts just to be able to pay their bills.
Also note I didn't live in Tokyo, Kyoto, or Osaka areas, however.
any of these would be cool to me however.
this would be the easist option for them as the game time cards are already in place. should have been a nobrainer from the start that those time cards should have doubled as crysta cards

I've been in japan goin on 4 years now. My US issued card worked at any post office ATM when I was up in misawa for 3 years and it works in any convenience store or post office atm here in okinawa. Might be the fact it was a master card you were using as I have a visa and had absolutely no issue.I, too, lived in Japan and about half of the ATMs i used would accept neither my mastercard nor my domestic (Japanese) ATM card, despite the ATM card being issued by JP national. Agreed.
PayPal is a very popular and widely-used payment method in many parts of the world, especially in North America.
It would make sense that Square-Enix should do everything in their power to allow this option as payment; it can only HELP Final Fantasy XIV grow, allowing players who only use PayPal to actually give SE their money.![]()
They have already commented that they are working on it. Look back in the dev tracking if you want an actual official post. I'm in the same boat and waiting patiently. I got a time card for xmas but once that runs out, I'm unable to play until they add paypal back in.
Here is the post:
This was from all the way back in mid October. I am curious though on what they mean by "soon"Greetings,
We understand the frustration that the removal of the PlaySpan, and by extension PayPal, billing option is having on customers that relied on it for paying for subscription fees or for the optional services like retainers.
We are currently working on implementing a PayPal payment option and we hope to have this up and running soon. In the meantime, if you do encounter errors when attempting to register your credit card, please contact our Support Center for assistance.
