Question(s): But not really technical support

Hi, this isnt really technical support but I have a few questions. I bought the collectors edition of FFXIV when it first came out, however due to "circumstances" I have lost the box with the cd's and cd keys. If this game has similar customer service to XI, I know those cd keys made it a heck of a lot easier to access and do w/e you needed to do over the phone or email with your account. 1, I was wondering if there was a place that these were kept, either in my account somewhere or I dont even know if this is possible somewhere in my FFXIV folders (not the smartest computer guy). I was also wondering being as how my PC is on the brink of death the best way to save/backup something all my FFXIV files so when it does die I can have them to transfer over to a new PC. Sorry a little off topic, any help/answers appreciated.

Oh wow. Well as far as your key(s) I can only muster guesses and I don't want to as it may produce hope. But just call them or send a ticket in. The support is MUCH better then it was for XI since "Rip-you-off-online" isn't handling accounts.

Those keys are just "codes" and become useless once you registered them with your account. I couldn't find a way to get those keys out of the account management system so I guess you will have to do what Geesus suggested.

Yeah I actually TRIED doing that searching the files for a code) with a copy my brother gave my roommate at the time. I researched it with no luck and LUCKILY he found the book lol. I don't even really know what all hell they may put you through to attempt to even GIVE you the codes. They're pretty adamant about you keeping those codes in a safe place and to not lose them. But you won't know until you plead enough. Besides, with lack of players, a gesture to one such as yourself may prove to be in your favor Mattei! So GL!

As long as you created the account, and registered the key (and guest key) then all you need is a copy of the client, log in and play. (and the keys becomes all but useless in 90% of situations after that)
You can clearly access the account, so im not sure what your actually after, in that regard.

As for the move to new pc, not sure how or if FFXIV can be moved to a clean install.
Once as my SSD arrives and I've had time i'll be doing a clean install so i'll post back if you can move it across.
But you can get the basic client onto a new machine without the discs.
( i just doubt I can say how on official forums lol)

Backing up is easy. Just save the folder /documents/my games/final fantasy xiv/users and put it back in after you do all your patching and configurations. Usually I do it in that order - patch - quit, configure everything, copy folder back, run game.

I guessed he was on about the actual game files
    But still good advice

the game doesn't re-create registry settings when you run it, so it needs to be installed, and I don't know if it changes registry settings when you patch it. If it does, you can't just copy the old files over a fresh install. If it doesn't, can install, then just copy them to "patch"? Hmm. I dunno. I do recall it being talked about before though. Search of the forums might yield the answer.

Yeah i figured, guess i'll be poking the registry as i only saved some of the dam updates files.
(unless i can find them in the game folders/ or force it to check itself and update that way and just do a data dump)

No need for any registry changes. Just copy the game's backup to it's destination and run the config. Put shortcuts on the desktop if you need those. And don't forget directx and maybe other redistributables.
