What materia should I be putting into this thing? I won't be able to afford putting all 5 slots as IV's, but I'm not sure what all I should be aiming for.

According to http://www.ffxivguild.com/ffxiv-bard...me-gear-guide/ CRIT IV, CRIT IV, CRIT III x 3.
Which i have seen some people with the coat with that meld.
I have seen alot with the above as well however you don't always have to follow the herd, lol
You can add 2 CritIV, One Crit 3 and the rest Det as well depending on your build, people seem to forget that det is also important.
Really also depends on the stats you added to your Relic
Also check out the Ariyala Gear Calculator website to see how you can cap the stats.
Do what is best for you not what everyone else is doing
Also ps. ffxivguild often have misinformation when it comes to gear, crafting gear is a perfect example

I'm not saying they are perfect, just giving some information.
Oh i understand i just wanted to put it out there that that site has been wrong before but the full crit meld is great but not a must. Either way works, just do not meld ss, lol.
Whatever you do, make sure you put 2 IVs in. It'll be ridiculous on your end to not take advantage of a 100% meld.
Personally I did 2 IV Crits, and then the rest were 3 crits. I regret it now because my coat will never be BiS compared to our Dreadwyrm counterpart, but I'm not going to re-meld it either.
Misinformation on many levels.
The max melds for the coat are 29 det, 41 acc/crit/ss.
The best meld is therefore 1 Savage might 4, 1 Savage aim 4, 1 Savage Aim 4 , 1 Savage Aim 4, 1 Savage aim 4. Hey, I never said it was gonna be cheap lol.
If gil is limited, then I suggest 1 Savage might 4, 1 Savage aim 4, then a combination of Savage aim 4 and /or 3s.
By itself your Kirimu is not the highest stat weighted. The Dreadwyrm tonbard beats it. But:
Basically, the dreadwyrm does not give you any acc and you are thus taking an acc hit. The Kirimu coat comes with max acc but you lose out on some DEX. Because you have the higher acc, it allows you to swap your other gear for crit/det rather than acc/ss. All said and done, you will gain DEX rather than losing it.With lower melds it is still worth it as it will still outperform the poetics chest and allow you to have a lot of freedom when gearing.
It won't be your BIS piece with less than max melds, but it will last you until the T13 chest. Going with max melds, it is your BIS piece because it allows you to fill up other slots with DET/crit secondary stats over ACC/speed. Basically you end up swapping 11 DEX for about 65 DET/crit, which at currently accepted stat weights is the equivalent of 15 DEX.
Kirimu coat is your BiS when fully max melded with the most expensive meld set up.

Full crit meld is always better. By stat weights crit and det have almost the same weight but you can always stack more crit than det per item, crit is always certainly the way to go.
Unless you have whatever reason such as not having the Yoichi Bow/Artemis Nexus and other gearing issues that doesn't allow you to stack more than 550 crit right now and for the long future, then maybe maintain at least 500 crit and dump the rest in det might be the better option. Else, whenever available, in this patch you should stack 600 crit if possible. That 40+% overall crit rate is just plain amazing.
That's what I said...? I clearly said my choice is not BiS, I never mentioned how it compares when you start adding other gear into the mix. Maybe you were reading in between some imaginary lines on what I posted, but that's all on you.
I hope Chrystal tower coat version will be "more cheap".
Or pants too![]()
