All these "there's no point for her to return" comments don't work. Let the developers figure out what the point would be (if they want the event back for new players (and old players who are fans)). And if it shows up, and you're not interested in it, then just ignore it.

Except they do. The Lightning Returns event was a prequel to the Lightning Returns game. Now that the game is a year old now (and done with), there's no point to bring this event back (thus why some of us are saying it would seem SE has run out of ideas when every other event they've made has been different in one way or another). There's also no way for SE to bring Lightning back to Eorzea in a new FFXIII event because of how Lightning Returns ended. If they brought Lightning back to FFXIV in a new event, they would be breaking FFXIII's lore, which is something Yoshi-P himself said they would never do.

Dead characters or characters finished with their story (or something lore related. Word of God says Red XIII, for example) can not enter Eorzea.

I think what he meant was NEW events won't feature characters that are dead or have their story completed, since the Lightning Strikes quests can only be completed once, therefore she technically only comes to Eorzea once from your character's perspective.
So, as I mentioned earlier, the most likely time they'll bring the event back is for the anniversary.

And that was pushing it as there was no reason to make the event happen again (not from a lore perspective nor for promoting another game. It was just there just because). I personally would prefer new events for the anniversary of the game in 2015, not recycled events from 2013. As for the items themselves, they can either remain as exclusive event items for the cool kids club or be put into the cash shop.

It doesn't have to be a new event. It can be the exact same event as the prior runs, leaving those that have done it before with no concerns (as they won't have to worry about being bothered by it again).

It's just how MMOs work. Think of how many times events are repeated each and every day, and nobody bats an eye about it. Every single player here has been (for example) duped by a traitor, captured by the Amalj'aa, and served up on a platter to Ifrit - and then defeated him. All the exact same story, all at different times, from the day the game launches to the day it goes offline forever.

There is absolutely zero difference between that and new players experiencing Lightning's event. Most events in this game are not one-shot. And I am unaware of any rule that states "seasonal" events have to be.

Think of how many times events are repeated each and every day, and nobody bats an eye about it. Every single player here has been (for example) duped by a traitor, captured by the Amalj'aa, and served up on a platter to Ifrit - and then defeated him.

The scions do make me feel less unique whenever they say that I'm their only hope or the greatest warrior of Eorzea... I know they say that to everyone else.

You're assuming that Lightning Returns has already ended. Each game world has it's own timeline and when crossovers occur they could draw from any time before, during, or after the source game. A pre-"Lightning Returns" Lightning could appear in XIV next year just as well as she did last year.

Yes, that is all true, but when asked if we would ever seen Lightning again since her story has ended, the response given stated that as Lightning is an extremely popular character there is always the possibility that she would still show up in other Final Fantasy titles as a guest character. In other words, don't rule the possibility of seeing her again out.

In the end the developers can do whatever they feel justified in doing. It's their game, and their story to tell, and they do seem to enjoy appeasing their fans (not just the ones who need to feel like they're part of an exclusive club and veto everything). Maybe Lightning returns in a future event, maybe she doesn't.. it just seems kind of silly to be so opposed to it.
