I was one of those players who had to get to level 45 for this event, I earned it, I don't like the idea of it being thrown up in the cash shop for $5 or whatever as that devalues my efforts and the efforts of others who participated. There's nothing wrong with a little exclusivity in the game.
That being said, it would make sense for them to bring it back for future XIII related release dates. It was meant as an advertisement for that game, after all.
there's nothing wrong with exclusivity, for something related to the game.
there are Primal Mounts for that reason.
FFXIII is not even related to this game.
there's really no reason to be exclusive. it's an event, too. everyone can do it.
you didn't "had to" level up to 45 to do this event. you would eventually have leveled up anyway, regardless of the event...
what makes you feel you "earned" it?
it's a free event. that means everyone can do it. there's nothing special about it.
that lv 45 requirment was a nice implementation, that gave players an incentive to level up their character...i mean if you feel entitled to something because you "had to" level up your character...what makes you play a MMO?

Just curious, but why is anyone opposed to this event (or any event) returning again? If participating a second/third/fourth/etc time doesn't seem appealing to you, why not simply pass on it and continue doing whatever it is you normally do within the game (leaving it for those who do want to participate)? As far as I'm aware participation in any of these events isn't mandatory.
If games only had features/events that 100% of the population were fond of, we probably wouldn't have anything, including character creation.
And I'm more or less arguing the "I can't get it easily, just throw it up in the cash shop" mentality that people seem to have these days. Missed out on a special event, throw it up in the cash shop. Can't get a special dye due to RNG, throw it up in the cash shop, etc. IMO I did earn it, because I played the game. It wasn't hard to do, no. And it wouldn't be hard for someone else to do either, if they choose to bring the event around again. I could say the same thing about those primal mounts you mentioned. They're really just vanity, why not throw them up for $25 alongside Sleipnir, and let players who don't want to farm primals have at it. If you've earned one, would you feel that's fair? And if you'd read my second paragraph, you would have noticed that I'm not actually opposed to the items being made available again in the future, in-game of course.
With the fact that the Lightning questline isn't repeatable, I have no idea.Just curious, but why is anyone opposed to this event (or any event) returning again? If participating a second/third/fourth/etc time doesn't seem appealing to you, why not simply pass on it and continue doing whatever it is you normally do within the game (leaving it for those who do want to participate)? not everyone playing the game right now, is playing from the beginning, like you, or me, or dunno enyone else xD
yes, you got to partecipate to the event, you got your Haircut and gear and weapons...
people who only recently started playing, didn't have the "fortune" to partecipate in it.
it seems fair, that they can have another chance to partecipate in this events....
on one side, they could re-implement these events in the game (for example, I didn't partecipate in the Christmas event where you could obtain the snowman suit, and I wish I did, looking at this year clothes >_>), but that would mean there will be people arguing about it because they want something new, and not something they aready have...
I really don't get how could someone be upset about past events reward in the cash shop.
you like spent something around 10 minutes maxv to obtain everything the event had to offer.
farming primal mount with a REALLY low drop rate, with other 7 people fighting for it. are two different things. completely. you can't compare them.
the point is. Lightning event is not even a FFXIV related event.
they threw her in, at random. just for fanservice.
it would be stupid, to make this event something like a "recurring event".

I do hope it returns next year, gotta have those Noel Katanas for Ninja! And Caius's sword for DRK! And... er... I'd say Sazh's guns for Machinist, but those were already used to make the MNK weapons... because punching with four pistols makes so much sense...
Oh, and also, FFXIII-themed Triple Triad cards, yes please!

As I noted on page 2, these events pile up. The more weeks or months SE devotes to regurgitating old special events cuts into the weeks or months they can devote to NEW special events. It may be just two or three events now - but years from now? When they've had all kinds of special events come and go? Suddenly, every place you go in the game has these oddball cameo events springing up. Shantoto FATEs, Lightning FATEs, Dragon Quest FATEs whatever new crossover events SE adds to the game over time. The world becomes a circus of non-FFXIV characters romping around, distracting people who are trying to play, you know, FFXIV.
Plus, these events are PASSE! The Lightning Returns game has been launched already, and it's not going to launch again. The event was introduced to the game to celebrate and draw attention to Lightning Returns. To implement it again now would be for one purpose: to get Lighning equipment and hairstyles into the hands of players who haven't gotten them yet. That goal can easily be accomplished by cash shop, without cluttering the game with an event whose main purpose is now obsolete.
Limited time events are great, but when they go, it's time to say goodbye. Putting the rewards in the cash shop means that folks years down the road will not have lost their opportunity to get the items involved.
i would certainly hope a ff15 event will arrive before another ff13 event.
