The Many Lives of Final Fantasy XIV

As suggested by someone who doesn't get satire...

Clearly they have little love for the game, maybe that is because they spend more time scouring the net trying to find what's wrong with it instead of just playing it.

If you don't like it, no one is forcing you to play. Sure there is bad stuff but there is a lot of good too. Why not compile a mile long list of the good stuff too, that would at least make you more valid. But starting basically an "Ihateffxiv" thread here and on tumblr really does little for your credibility.
...let's talk about the GOOD parts of various changes and events.

The most vocal words towards any business tends to be negative. That's why threads such as The Many Deaths of Final Fantasy XIV can exist.

But despite complaints, there are still people who play. We know some things still need tweaks, but what about ones that are hugely beneficial that we've gotten? What about the good things that came out of a negative event?

This thread is not satire. This thread will be very community-run. Like my other thread, I will be wanting your suggestions.

Let's show the devs, who work tirelessly with us on changes, the mods who have to drag themselves through the forum's bile, the people who make the music, and even the coffee runner know how much we appreciate their work! These guys all deserve our thanks!

    1. Version 1.0: While the initial launch of the game was so bad that they asked people to hold off reviewing it, it still is an important point because it changed the way SE thought about us. In earlier times, the customer complaints would be ignored, and nothing ever changed. SE was well-known for being vague, if even that, to the players of FFXI. The closest to a hint we got about anything in there was a video on how to kill Absolute Virtue, which many players joked that the method was zooming in on stuff. There were no official forums. Once Yoshi-P got hold of FFXIV, he saw a lot of potential. One of his first tasks was to open a line of communication between players and the developers. The game was on the brink of death, but his team did make the game playable compared to the previous team, and much of the reason is because some people stayed to help them fix it. Several people payed during 1.0, using the newly arrived forums and other methods. They ultimately decided that to fully fix this problem, they were going to have to remake it from the ground up, a very risky move when it would've been easier to just give up. But they did it, because...

    2. Version 2.0: ARR turned the eyes and opinions of many of those that abhored 1.0. With a brand new UI, retuned abilities and classes, the old world redone to fix many areas. At this point, many players were just awed, seeing a place they hung around in 1.0 being more open, and they were hungry to explore the realm. Not only that, but we had more genders for the various subsections! Highlander and Roegadyn women, Miqo'te males (some of these things were requested in FFXI, but were completely ignored back then.), no longer NPC only! Yoshi-P didn't just slap a band-aid onto the game, it was total reconstructive surgery.

More entries will be added is the coming days. Is there a certain change that you want to thank SE for? Let me know and I'll attempt to find out more detail on it to add it!
