main menu refuses to respond to inputs for a period of time, please help

Hello, i play on ps4. Everything worked well for a while, but yesterday or two days ago a constant issue has occured. Everytime i press the options button to bring up the main menu, when i press a direction on the dpad to choose my menu selection, the cursor doesnt move. The time varies everytime i press options, but its usually around 5 seconds of no response before my cursor starts to move, and its not just the cursor. For the five seconds after i press options on my controller, no button on my controller will affect the menu in any way. I can still run around underneath the menu, and i have no other control issue in any other area. This makes me thing theres something wrong with the game or some setting i messed up. In the interest of disclosure, my options button is sticky, it requires a great deal of force to press. But i dont think that has anything to do with it because i press it instantly, the menu instantly comes up, i mash the dpad for five seconds futilely, and then after 5 seconds the cursor starts to move again like nothings wrong. Please, i have to open my journal and map constantly, and the 5 ssconds every time is excruciating. Please help.

I unscrewed 3 of the 4 screws on my dualshock 4 (the 4th one was impossible) so with a heavy heart i rebooted the game and the issue was gone. Also my options button feels a bit looser from the removal of the three screws. It seems that the stiffness of the options button was for some reason causing the main menu ui to lag. It would be nice to know why that would have an effect.

It just sounds like the option button was staying in ignoring any other buttons pushed until it releases itself ie 5 seconds.

Yeah thats what it is. Problem solved, have to spend 60 dollars on a new dualshock
