I have always prefered to play the caster role, this was until i discovered the Corsair class in FFXI. For those of you who are unaware, corsair were a luck based class that shot bullets and used a Roll/Gamble style giving you random outcomes.
Having one of these classes could proove useful to both parties or even useful traits for crafting/gathering. And it would add a new effect to party dynamic instead of - Tank DPS Heals.
The idea behind it would be a buffer/support class based on chance with a thirst for gil/rare items.
Here are some random skill ideas for a Merchant/Gambler like class:
R05 - Gil Toss - Throw Gil at your opponent for a random amount of damage (more gil used increases damage chance)
R08 - Heads or Tails - Increases/Decreases gil drop rate.
R10 - Beginners Luck - Raises one random stat
R15 - Fighting Fate - Restores a random amount of HP (Higher chance of greater heal when on low HP)
R20 - Windfall - XP gain increase for the party by 1-7% - 3 Minute Duration. 5 Minute Cooldown.
R26 - Misfortune I - Reduces an enemys stat.
R28 - Random Find - Increases gathering chance.
R30 - Lucky Streak - Abilities used have a more likely beneficial chance. 20 Second Duration - 10 Minute Cooldown
R32 - Methodology - Has a chance to give party members MP Regen.
R36 - Prosperity - Increases the chance of gil drop (Trait)
R40 - Oppurtunity - Increases your critical strike or evade chance by 1-5%
R40 - Windfall II - XP Gain increases for the party by 8-15% - 3 Minute Duration. 5 Minute Cooldown.
R42 - Advantage - Swaps current HP with random party member (Higher chance to swap party member with low hp)
R44 - Fighting Fate II - Restores a random amount of HP to party (Higher chance of greater heal when on low HP)
R46 - Beginners Luck II - Raises one random stat greatly for each party member
R48 - Misfortune II - Reduces an enemys stat greatly.
R50 - Chance - Increases the success chance of crafting.
R50 - Lady Luck - Slighty Increases the chance of obtaining rare drops +1,+2,+3 (Enemy debuff - Duration 1 MIN, 10 Minute Cooldown)
My only concern with bringing in a class with the current stat system would be, none of the stats seem to be related to luck.
What does the community think?
Do we need a Luck/Gamble based class in the late future?
Or is this post just rubbish coming out of my head at 3:30 AM?
