    Amalj'aa Beasts Quests

I know the main focus of that questline was supposed to be Loonh Gah but I honestly couldnt care for her. Shes a jerk to you most of the time and didnt really stand out as a person. The mask didnt help either, it just helped further cement her as a faceless entity with no emotions or connections. Its only when she finds herself neckdeep in her own crap then starts to brown nose you. Something that bothered me was that she didnt take her mask off when she found her mother, but will take off her mask for you. Does she care more for a stranger than her mother?

After you first defeat Ifrit, you are told that the others with you got executed because the very existence of a tempered strengthens primals. So what did Loonh Gah do? Let her loose into the town of the U tribe. Why? Shes clearly off her rocker (shes talking to a rock for gods sake) and even Loonh herself say that tempered have never recovered. Her mother is likely to stab someone to death in Ifrit's honour, good job.

I think you glazed over the finer details of the quest line for the Amalj'aa. Loonh Gah doesn't care for you at first because she doesn't know who you are or what you can do, thus she sees you as a possible liability (remember, she was raised to think that only the strong survive and the only company she had was the Amalj'aa). Only when she starts to see that you are capable of facing threat without crumbling that she starts to see you as an equal. While Loonh was upset to see what had happened to her mother, she also had very little memory of her, so the connection wasn't there for them; she probably knew you far longer than her own mother when they were separated. Remember, the entire Brotherhood relies on honor through one's own strength, so Loonh didn't respect you until you showed that you could stand toe to toe with her foes.

And are you sure they let Loonh's mother free? From what I gathered in that scene, they left her there because there was nothing else they could do to help her.

I wanted the quest line to be more about Amalj'aa's history and culture. Not some random Miqo'te. About her mother, why not execute her? Shes clearly tempered and very unstable so not only would it be a mercy killing, it would help rid the land of tempered slaves. Which is what the Amalj'aa have been trying to accomplish the entire quest line. So not only does she basically go against everything you worked for, she stuck her with other people which is a horrible idea since she a ticking timebomb and only a matter of time before she snaps.

The Amalj'aa do not indescriminantly kill tempered. When they can isolate/neutralize the threat of a tempered they are apt to try and cure them as demonstrated by the dailies their goal isnt to eradicat the primal threat, but to restore the freedom of their people and that of the U tribe which they closely identify with in values, wether that is reciprocated or not.

The cultural references are throughout, Loonh is meant as a mirror to the player how those are misinterpreted by outsiders. As nomadic warriors their culture is strength and discipline, which is missinterpreted as influential power seeking and subversion, rather than respect and balance with your surroundings.
