    HQ gear from dungeons and faction leves

    Wanted to start a discussion on the following suggestion:


    Make it possible that dungeons and faction leves drop HQ versions of gear.
    (HQ = high quality = +1 +2 +3 items)


    Example of probabilities to give you an idea:
    10% chance of getting +1
    5% chance of getting +2
    2% chance of getting +3


    Pros :

    - Enhanced content replayability

    - Sets goals for min-maxers, and keeps players with a lot of free time busy

    - Motivates veterans to help new players run dungeons (since they get a chance to upgrade the gear they already got)




    Cons:

    - Repeating content to get HQ versions can become boring (though no one is forcing you if you’re satisfied with NQ)

    - Might make crafted items obsolete (though planned stat revisions on items + materia crafting details might favour crafted items even more, as previously stated by dev team)

    - Since dungeon gear is unique, NQ versions will get dropped on the floor when someone gets a HQ (instead of passing that NQ gear to someone who doesn’t have it)




    Have any other pros and cons that I can add to the list?

    HQ gear is a benefit of having it crafted, and doesnt need to drop inside dungeons too

    I Agree, why not make Crafters able to enhance the said loot to +X instead. >:O

    I wouldn't mind seeing some rare crafting materials drop from dungeon. Like perhaps a Batraal Horn +3?

    lol of course a BG would suggest something as asinine as this. The only way Equipment dropped from Dungeons and Raids should ever get HQ is if they are used to craft something else.

    "Oh you like your Lominsa Halberd? Thats nice, Its one of the mats for the "Navigators Pick" a HQ version of the Lominsa Halberd."

    I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders.     I think the goal of having non HQ gear from dungeons and faction leves is to create variety. It is not X > Y, but rather X is better than Y only in A situation while in B situation Y is better than X. HQ crafted gear has better base stat like ATK/ACC but at the same time does not give you bonus attribute, whereas Dungeon gear doesn't have as good base stat but give out base attribute. Take the example of Solid Scale Mail vs Vintage Haubergeon +3, the Haubergeon is clearly geared toward tanking while Solid is DPS gear. Once you allow Solid to be +3, then there is little variety left in the game.

    Hmmm ... with that mentality, I suspect you're the kind of guy who judges people by their race/nationality.

    Anyway, just trying to debate over this, hence why I pointed out pros and cons, but it seems like some people don't read or are just close-minded in their personal convictions.

    Everything, from HQ system, to item stats, to damage algorhytms is changing (and materia system implanted), and a good balance between crafted gear and dungeon gear needs to be set (Devs already said that crafted gear will always have the advantage, and I'm not suggesting the opposite). Does that mean that 80% of dungeon drops need to be shitty compared to common +1 weapons ? Should they add depth and variety in the dungeon drops like there is in crafted gear to enhance replayability and cooperation ?

    No Way.

    Unique gear is cool, but it doesnt take the same lvl of effort and luck that a +3 craft does.

    Crafters should ALWAYS be able to outdo great drops w/ HQ synths. I wholeheartedly approve of the old system, roaming NMs drop the mats, sometimes +3 mats.

    Let the crafters reign supreme when it comes to equipment.
