Crafting classes in this game are full time jobs....

Yeah I like option 2 the best for becoming a job. I'd like the ability to just equip the spells i need and then my job would classify me based on my spells or select a job to be tha I have spells unlocked for and my job title would change so long as I have the required base core spells equipped.
OT
Um not really. I play this game casually and spend about 1hr, maybe 2 at the most craftnig local leves. If you have multiple craft classes, then you can pick up a bunch of optimal rank local leves for the different classes without have to go to another city. A lot of times you will have multiple turn ins at the same camp from multiple crafts, thus cutting down the time. My 4 main crafts are in their 30s from casual local leve play. I don't grind like my LSmates do. Some of them are burned out from doing so.

Not that I agree with them, but just because you play for 1hr a day and that casual aspect of the game is working fine for you doesn't mean its ok. I'm sure this this person plays a little longer and feels that if he wants to make any significant progress on his/her crafting class that it takes really long and its boring; a full time job.Yeah I like option 2 the best for becoming a job. In that sense I agree. Sitting there spamming X is not my ideal way to spend a day.
Unless they were trying to say that crafting classes are a full time job in the sense that RDM, PLD, etc was a full time job in XI. Though I doubt this.

This subject keeps getting better and better I have to honestly say. You confused me before in another thread but now since you completely explained the system in your own thread everything is clear. Out of the 3 good threads about this you won me over by a long shot. I can see how other ideas would limit the potential of our current class system and make it dumbed down to a degree and similar to other MMOs. I truly hope this is the vision(or close enough) to Yoshi-P take on this subject cause this seems to also help class and individual uniqueness. My problem with XI was that the jobs had many weapons but in the end there was very little purpose(if any) to use them.
For example what was the purpose of using a sword for a dragoon or dark knight(besides just skilling up). In the end you would just be gimping yourself.

Good job OP! I agree.
Change warms the heart.

WOAH O.O
I didn't know about this...neither knew this was like that, i know you could combine "different job's" but that is, i didn't know about any existance of classes D:
Well i always loved the current job system, because i can build my character how i want it and now with almost all jobs present on my character (almost) on various levels my Marauder is something unique with a lil of healing magic, PGL skills, MRD skills etc. and now i love this system even morebut anyway as for class hmm i would call my Marauder my own one though like a Pirate cuss i like being one, and Role Play one
PS: About that article http://ffxiv.zam.com/story.html?story=20024 - I definitely must read that, i didn't saw it before either. It's strange like your into the game for about year now and get to know something new xD

Thanks for the Positive Responses ^_^
I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

I approve of this idea. That is all.
Great explanation. I wholeheartedly support the notion of creating our jobs by selecting abilities from our various classes. What we really need now are more and better defined abilities, and more significant effects from attributes, so that we can create the perfect job.
Would this preclude the ability to swap out skills? I'm really hoping for something more flexible, perhaps even a third option.

You'd still be able to modify your load out after the intitial selection and that loadout would be saved for every time you equipped that job.
