Ascian Teleport?

Right now Teleport to a Crystal costs something like 50-650 gil. I was thinking about the Ascian ability to teleport from point to point in the storyline, without Crystals. This seems like something a Black Mage should be able to do at high levels. To make it fair, it could also be a new Black Mage Cross Class Ability similar to Swift Cast.

There is a Teleport function for Married Couples, that is free. I was thinking of something similar, but less free.

first, it would wipe your MP, second, it would burn up either a new crystal item, or an existing crystal item, such as 1 Fire Crystal or 1 Water Cluster. It would allow you to teleport to the location of a Party Member, similar to an improved version of the Black Mage power to travel 30 yalms.

Alternatively, you could "save" a point or number of points (like 3 max) and basically recall to that spot. It could be further limited to the "same map". Setting your "spot" would be like setting a Waymarker.

To be fair, the price on the teleports is pretty insignificant so this ability would harshly be considered easier. Also, if you dislike the teleporting, you can always choose not to do so.

A little worried on the idea of tying this to Black Mage.

A) Hypothetically, it eats up a potential skill, unless it is added separately as a "free" skill, like Mug, Summon I, or Stone Skin II. If they don't have it as an extra skill, then that is one less Skill the BLM gets, for something pretty useless, beyond being handy from time to time.

B) Even Cross Class, it'd be annoying leveling up BLM just to use it, unless the other classes get similar utility skills. ((I can see it now. Black mage gets to teleport to a friend, Summoner gets to teleport a friend to them. Selfish Blackmage jerks)).

Functionally, I'd leave it off my Cross class list and Crossbar and just pop on to BLM, Teleport, then switch. Depending on location, And if I'm changing to Summoner or not, the skill refresh from switching classes and the MP drain very possibly being mitigated by the time gained in the hop.

In the interests of simply getting to where I want to go, I am onboard with an idea like this. The Idea of having anything bigger than Coerthas with no extra Aetheryte sounds extremely tedious (some of the current zones already are pretty tedious...), however tying it up in a specific job/class seems a bit unbalanced. What would the other classes get in comparison?

You guys don't know "tedious" travel unless you played FFXI in the old days. Getting to where you need to go in this game, no need to make it even easier....

I'd rather see a second Aetherite in Coertas (sp?)

I hate travelling from one end of the map to the other.
