Attach Glamour to Jobs, not gear.

Not a big deal, but I have a Augmented Warrior AF that I like to have on my tank gear. But my paladin automatically defaults to the default. Ontop of this, when that gear gets upgraded to be paintable, it'll be mix match.. and as I get new gear, it'll be even more so.

I really wish that the glamour system was tied to the person or job chosen, and not to the gear itself.

I know i reference it alot, but DCUO had an awesome system. The game is soon going to have so many style options, that many will get lost. In DCUO, once you collected a style, it was your forever. People would buy gear JUST for the style to add to their collection, even if they never used that style. I would think crafters would rejoice to have their items purchased for style, and when you sync that style your collection, the armor become untradable.

Anyhow... won't happen, but it's a nice thought.

Well, the problem SE wants to avoid (probably) is one job looking like another (a BLM on full WAR glamour for example), but that's their own fault for encasing every job under such strong stereotypes.

They want jobs to have their own exclusive looks, AND they don't want to tax the already bloated character data with more appearance specs for each item.
There was a monster thread on "b-b-b-but we can wear hempen robes as WAR!"
They still haven't done it, and most likely won't do it.
Also remember DCUO is a game where a character only has one class. That's a decently big deal.

What Steady is talking about is how the glamour is tied to the gear, so jobs that share the same gear pieces also have to share the same glamour, and when you're using job restricted pieces like the AF gear, the appearance of the items revert to the original look when you switch to the other job that shares the gear.

He's suggesting that glamour should be tied to the job instead of the gear. so you can still wear the same gear on your PLD and WAR but have the possibility of using both his Augmented WAR AF on his WAR and whatever else on his PLD.

    To Kasathar
This has already been shot down numerous times in many threads; SE themselves have already invalidated it as a reason with the current restrictions on who can wear what gear. And as for any job on a FF game having a stereotypical "look", puh-leas. This point too has been made plenty of times. Who wrote the manual that said "magic wielders may only ever wear robes, and fighters may only ever wear heavy armor". I'm a BLM, do I need a Ramuh beard to complete my stereotypical wizard costume? This is a Final Fantasy game and an MMO, beautiful unique designs paired with some sort of customization system that keeps us from looking like a bunch of clones should be a given, but we are having a hard time with the second part.

Seems like a reason to complain and not a very good reason at that. 'I want to glamour what I want to glamour!!!!' Then roll up a Caster or DPS or Tank.

This. He's not talking about glamouring other jobs' gear. It's like almost nobody has even read what this topic is about.

What the op is talking about, is like glamouring the job, so regardless of whatever you wear, when you're in that specific job/class, it shows the glamour you assigned to the job/class.

The problem with this is that you can't easily have a set of town-glamour and a set of combat-glamour. You have to have a "town job/class".

They are separate jobs, but they share many pieces of gear. AFAIK, the only gear they don't share is the weapons, the pvp armor and the AF.
