Then so is fluid aura, shadow bind, freeze and blizzard II. Every ranged job except Sch gets their own version of bind. I don't see why we should be pressed to give up ours.

Removing the one ranged AoE bind from Summoner, and giving it Apocatasis instead from BLM so they can have something else would make these two roles more balanced for PVE? Sounds a lot less like balance, and much more like wanting to justify foisting Apocatastasis off on another class because they already have one ability castable only on other party members with a long cooldown between using it, so hey, why not remove their one crowd control ability and make them take this one instead?
As things stand now, excluding cross class skills:
BLM- 2 ranged AoE crowd control abilitites- AoE Bind(Freeze), AoE Sleep; 1 short duration, single-target defensive spell castable on a different party member only, with a 1 minute wait required prior to re-use- Apocatastasis
SMN- 1 ranged AoE crowd control ability- Tridisaster; 1 short duration, single-target defensive spell castable on a different party member only- Eye for an Eye
After the proposed change, BLM would still have 2 ranged crowd control abilities (plus Blizzard II) and Summoner would then have 0. And instead Summoner would have 2 short duration, single-target defensive spells castable on a different party member only. That sounds like the exact opposite of balancing the two roles to me.
The availability of a tank pet doesn't negate the need for the overall availabily of crowd control skills. Garuda allows higher DPS solo or without a party of 4 against mobs through things like: Raging Strikes -> DOT's -> Garuda's Contagion (to extend DOT duration) -> Bane & Aerial Slash -> Tridisaster to bind. The AoE bind of tridisaster may be much less useful in a dungeon but the same can be said for Sleep (the party should always have a tank after all). Balancing roles between PVE doesn't mean changing a set of abilities for a class based solely on content in Duty Finder meant for a light or larger sized party.
+ BLM have blizzard that make 40% heavy + Lethargy. Disease do not work in pvp anymore for slowing purpose (same with combat ress) so BLM have way more better support than SMN if opponents are chasing you or your team mates. Tri-Disaster is our best support ability in pvp and now you wanna remove it?
New player here, well never played 1.0. How did the old freeze function?A BLM's dps charts looks akin to a heart rate monitor graph for the record. It goes 600-700 to 200-250 and bounces up and down. (as in in the moment dps not what the whole fight is at at the time.)
Also I agree apoc is out of place on the blm kit and doesn't belong. I've always complained about it though. I'd really like to see blm get burst back instead of nasty apocatastasis. Matter of fact I'd be happy if the became more similar to 1.0's incarnation and get old freeze back also. You know what would be awesome for summoner? Sanguine Rite - for the 2.0 players and beyond its like a weaker version of manaward (it absorbs a portion of hp in damage but it also worked on physical) but if you take damage with it on it also restores mp, it was a staple of the old blm kit.
