    Friendly community indeed...

FC member asks if anyone wants to join him for a Praetorium run - the fact that the slew of replies he gets is "first time? I go" / "I'm up for bonus tomes" is one thing. I mean, not the nicest, but at least the will to help is there, regardless of motivation.

By the time we go in (meaning before even a ready check), we discuss and agree to not skipping mobs - 4 overgeared BLMs and one overgeared DRG, there's no point -, and not skipping cutscenes so as the new guy can actually enjoy them as intended. Well, what do you know, tank just goes ahead, pulls mobs, and even starts most boss fights, forcing the new guy to be locked out or skip cutscenes. When called out, for the nth time for it? "oh come on when i made this 1st tiem u think they wait for me ^^?"

I mean, really? That's the attitude to expect now, not only from random DF strangers, but actual FC mates, when a party forms with the clear intention of doing a nice and relaxed run? Why join if you don't want to deal with it / don't have the time? I'm just disappointed.

Not everyone is like this, I put up PF's for first timers as often as I can, my fc and I will queue up with one or two spots left open to try and get new people so we can let them enjoy the end of their (not so) hard work. Castrum and Prae in our opinions is the culmination of an amazing story and we do what we can to get people to be able to enjoy it like it should be for a first timer. There are shitty people, but we have some good in us still. Just gotta find it

That's what we do usually if we get in with 6 or 7 out of the 8 and there's a new person. my FC will stand outside the boss area while the 1 or 2 (usually a tank or dps) run in and pull the boss lol

What you do in this situation is you kick the Tank. From the FC if possible.

I'm sorry you're not on my server. Our FC has 'movie nights' where we just go in with a full FC party and let the new person watch all the cutscenes while we just wait and chat or whatever. Sure, it takes a bit of time, but a good FC will do this for those who are new and want a better experience than many of us had at launch -- sorry that had to happen to you, and personally, I'd look for a new FC...

I like this idea. I may propose it to my own FC.

Unless it is required by your FC to abide by such things, everyone is free to play as they please. You should be disappointed at your FC's recruiting policies.

Um... so when we discuss something beforehand, going against it should be an act punishable by death or something to make sure people don't go against it? It's the most basic manners and respect, imo, I mean if they don't like what we discuss, they can disagree and leave. Nobody was forced to be there.

1 tank + 1 heal + new guy (also BLM but not overgeared, hence not in that group) + 5 overgeared DPS = full party. No role restrictions apply when you sign up for duty with a fully preformed party.

And yeah, that is the question/issue I have.
