Oh wow, I wish we had more bots on Moogle. The prices for shards suddenly almost doubled. Guess our bots are getting lazy
Seriously, if they help keeping prices for shards and materia low, I don't mind if they stay.

People bot'ing always means lower prices, which means consumers are happy.
But this destroys the market for anyone that is trying to legitimately make gil by being a producer. And the gil that a bot makes just sits there until someone buys it with real money.
People bot'ing is always bad for the market, because they are capable of obtaining quantities of resources that humans can't come close to, and the money they make is almost never used to advance the character that gathers it. It's used to line someones pockets with real money and give someone else a "pay $100 and never worry about money again" option.
It hurts those who are trying to make money with shards, no doubt. But crafters? I don't think so. If all bots suddenly disappeared and shards would rise to 500gil per piece.. I wouldn't really like that tbh. It would be either pay a high price for shards or go gather yourself, which is incredibly dull and takes up too much time. And about people who buy their gil - it's just another matter of perspective. The RMT prices are very high, anyone who pays 100$ just to get a couple of millions ingame gil is just plain stupid. Besides, they are risking to lose their account. It's a very high risk/low reward thing and is obviously not worth it.
RMT is a part of the ingame economy, just got to accept it.
Shards are only farmed by bots because it's only lucrative for bots due to how they drove down the prices. As the price of shards increases, so would the incentive for real people to go gather it.
This RMT is not an intended part of the game, it's gil entering a black-hole that only people willing to spend real money can retrieve. And it's not just "a couple of millions" for $100 dollars. According to all the RMT spammers on Jenova, it's about $50 for 20 million. Which is enough to buy a large land plot I believe, a large accomplishment for a person who does it the natural way.
personally I think all the anger is misplaced. if there was no gamers buying the gill then it would not be worth the bots time. so I think if we should be angry then we should be taking it out on the gamers who make the bots life worth it. but some how they get a free pass while we rage at a bot. myself personally could care less they don't keep me from enjoying my time in the game.
There will always be people that try to accomplish their goal using the least amount of effort as possible. Some people are willing to go against the rules of the game and facilitate this RMT market to do so.personally I think all the anger is misplaced. if there was no gamers buying the gill then it would not be worth the bots time. so I think if we should be angry then we should be taking it out on the gamers who make the bots life worth it. but some how they get a free pass while we rage at a bot. myself personally could care less they don't keep me from enjoying my time in the game.
The unfortunate thing for these people that buy gil is that they risk losing the most when both sides of the system gets their account banned.
The bot that gathered the gil doesn't care about the account, and has already earned the real money for the gil. The buyer has lost the thing that they paid for, any additional effort that they placed on the account, and still wont get the money they used to pay for the gil.
