"Party Finder" not "Raid Finder" or "Whatever-I-Prefer Finder"

You can want to find a party to do Shiva Extreme.
You can want to find a party to sell your goods.
You can want to find a party to sit around in Mor Dhona and stare at the rocks.

Still, a SEPARATE advertisement board would just be super. If you could pin the messages for a longer time, that'd be great, too.

You speak about getting your name out there and reputation. Where does your reputation come from, if you aren't there to complete the orders?

Reputation comes from being able to respond to queries and requests promptly and able to deliver the goods promptly as well. Throwing your name out there simply doesn't suffice. People will always remember and speak of those crafters who have consistently delivered what they promised. I speak from experience myself.

Open world contents: Technically you can start a SB party, put up a PF and says spiritbond and your crafting service at the same time. Or SB with your FC/friends in a party and put up PF and advertise your service. As a WHM you can SB solo as well although not as fast in a party. Atmas can be farmed solo; being in a party doesn't increase your chances of getting an Atma. The requirement for gold is so low these days for FATEs, solo participation isn't a problem.

You definitely have choices but it is whether you can think of it and whether you are willing to do. The devs never said PF cannot be used for ads and until they say so, it is not being misused, period. They write the rules, and if there's no rule that says we are fouling it, we aren't. Plus I believe that there are higher priority problems and issues out there that they would want to resolve first. This "issue" is really one of the smaller problems that most of the player base live by. SE won't be spending time making changes or things that doesn't really give a tangible benefit to the majority of the player base.

@-@ I never said this would be their top priority or even a major issue in need of SE attention. It is merely a wishful thinking or just something SE can think about, so there really no need to get you hyped up. Sure we can do all that but there is still some limit to we can really do with the current PF. It definitely can be better but for now, I don't really want fixing PF is SE top priority, period.

The very least they could do would be adding a new category to the PF to sell/craft, as that's specific enough to deserve it. And then let us select which categories (plural form) we want to see at once, so that we can filter what we are not interested in. Problem solved: we don't have to bother seeing things that we don't want to while still being able to see multiple categories at will, and with no more server resources needed (you just change the query, or it can even be sorted out client side).

As you all can see there's ways to fix this annoyance, and I'm sure that the devs could even improve it or find better ones that still work that way. You can say whatever you want, but some of the uses that the PF feature is being used for are things that I'm sure that weren't intended when it was made, and it needs to be sorted out. Because it can be annoying sometimes, yes.

Why would anybody even look at a window dedicated advertisements? They're annoying.

Rather have people advertising in PF than shout channels, most of the people on my blist are not RMT bots but ppl spamming the shout channel with "xxx selling yyy, loot is your /tell me for info"

This suggestion would actually be an inconvenience to some.

If someone wants to look for a coil/hunt group or whatever but also happens to want something crafted, having to click between two windows would be an inconvenience.

After the first glance through, you're only checking the bottom of the list anyway, all the new entries go there.

Wouldn't all that clicking take more time than just scanning the results once?

It's not that big of an issue.

If there's 20 entries, 7 of which are crafters, 3 of which are mercencary groups, the latter being various content. It shouldn't be that hard to distinguish what is what.

If you're looking for a BCoB group, you have to sift through the FATE/Dungeon/Trial party-finders, therefore it's the same problem. You're going to have to sift through things you necessarily don't want to do in order to find it.
Nope because there is a filter to the search results. people just rarely use it and rather complain about people advertising :P

This is why eBay and Craigslist are such huge failures.

Nope, as those would be just filters for people that want to see multiple PF entries at once for different kind of content (because they simply want to see if there's anything that interests them, even to help, or because they want to see what's being sold), without having to deal with things that they aren't interested in in that moment. The selection can be saved temporarily or even client side, as it's already done with many things (PF included), so that you don't have to check it each time. You would still have the current search feature to look for a single specific content, as it is now.
