It's going both ways at this point. You and everyone else who despises the current housing setup, can only hope SE listens more and makes adjustsments. Granted I wouldn't get my hopes up too much on what they would be willing to do to accommodate all the current players and those to come without adding quite a lot of money to their budget.
    It just came across, to me, as quite condescending and "victim blaming". I dont expect you should read the whole thread before commenting but I have acknowledged almost all the points you make, I'm not blind to them or ignorant of them. I think there are many factors and situations that your "Logical Response" does not take into account. like;

myself and a few others are legacy and couldnt transfer off a legacy server at first, and all those servers are crazy full like this. It's not like I picked this server cause I wanted to be overcrowded. I got merged here during 1.0 when servers shrank so coming here wasnt even my choice.
    and

I had login issues for the first two hours of the servers coming back up (at which point i checked the forums and saw people saying my server was already sold out.)
    Also,

I would like to point out that not everyone is in a FC, and not every FC has a house. And personally, I dislike the idea of using a FC room as my house because it is something that you "own" subject to the whims and behavior of others.
The whole system was not designed to be an all access content. Now, if SE can offer everyone on the High Populated servers a free server transfer, we will organize and take it in a heartbeat. As Nice as a house would be, its not gamebreaking, just heartbreaking. I was looking forward to it so much. I'm really hoping more wards will be added in heavensward and if so, I will be there hitting F5 like a mad man trying to get in and I will get at least our FC house. I will still feel bad for the ones who missed out because its a real shitty thing to miss out on housing, gardening, chocostables, FC crafting, FC airships, FC bonuses, and whatever else they are going to tie to the housing system in the future.

For me, it has NEVER been about the cost of the house, it's the availability of "personal" housing. FC housing having limited space, i'm ok with but personal houses should have been available to every adventurer. Lock it behind story line quests, or some outrageous requirements but make it something everyone can get if they worked towards it. right now, even if you had the money, you might not even be able to get the house.

Anyway, to keep this post on-topic, I'm feeling a bit salty about the housing system myself right now, because up until a couple months ago I was on the Hyperion server. After a great deal of saving and scrimping and scrimping and saving, and playing the market board as much as I could, I finally got 5 million gil, just in time for the Subdivisions to be released. With that money, I was able to buy a nice house in the Goblet overlooking the valley. It was a bit small, sure, but it was enough for me.

And then all my friends transferred off Hyperion.

Now, these were actual friends, not just "People I met on the game". We know each-other outside the game, have been in a few other MMOs together, and so yeah, I wasn't going to stay in Hyperion after they'd all left. So, now I'm on Excalibur, without a house, and without any available housing plots even close to my price range. I'm in an FC and have a Personal Room so it's not all bad, but dangit, I was just starting to get the hang of gardening...

That's currently what my main gaming consists of in ff14, making gil.

I'm usually an end-game pvp'er with crafting on the side to supplement my pvp money drain, but since pvp in this game is non-existent, I've pretty much just been doing crafting and it's treated me well.
I understand that most other people don't play this game for crafting and that's where I'm failing to make the connection. Some people won't even spiritbond because it's boring and my attitude is suck it up and do it for money. (Of course we can go into a long debate about why you'd have to do something you don't want to do in a game that's supposed to be for your enjoyment etc. etc. long discussion) But ultimately, if you want something that badly I'd work at it. Of course, in specific cases like the OP's.. It requires a lot more work than what I've had to do to get my houses..

Speaking of friends.. They're the one who dragged me away from WoW where I was perfectly content and the main culprit skipped out on me over to stupid Hearthstone so I can definitely empathize with having crappy friends who ditch you hmph.

Telling people to transfer servers if they want a house is essentially telling people to give SE a cash incentive not to fix the problem it is responsible for.

Except, to the extent that housing availability acts as an incentive for people to spread out to the underpopulated servers, SE is probably fine with it or even set it up that way intentionally.

If SE wanted to drain players from large servers they would use free transfers like every other big MMO.

I highly doubt Ishgard won't have a housing area. Just wait for that.

I still think personal rooms should be linked to your "inn room" and be expandable (Once you join a FC link to there and if your booted back to inn room with no penalties to access to your room) Giving people incentive to have housing and play with furnature while saving the physical exterior housing for companies.

That is only true if there is enough housing available to provide a home for every single player at the target population level SE is aiming for on a server.

Is there? Otherwise the problem persist no matter how balanced the server populations become, and the fault rests with the developers for not providing either enough homes or enough servers.

Ah the housing topic again. I feel like complaining again so I will!
First of all, I personally didn't think the housing would cost an arm and a leg thank you very much.
We had a very short amount of time to get money too, it was very last minute when they told the price.

Secondly, if you were on Balmung then you were SoL about 10 mins after servers went up.
Meds/Large were near impossible to gain on your own. Even legacy peoples didn't have a whole bunch of gil.
Too late now because FC's took em.
I said this a million times before. It's FLUFF CONTENT, it shouldn't cost 32490230 gil for a house, it should be free actually
and all your gil would go to home decor. If they couldn't find a way to please everyone, should of had instanced/Mog house type of deal. Which we have been saying for a long time.
Don't say "Oh yeah FC has a room" I don't wanna decorate a tiny ass room, I want my whole house to myself. Plus that is forcing players to be in a FC.
It's not fair. There is no reason whatsoever housing should be treated as some...hardcore/end-game type of BS. I've been mad for the longest about this.
A house is gated for a ton of people. LOL.

This is why events suck balls too. Only like 0.1% of the games pop [Yes I'm throwing out randoms numbers because qq.] even own a house.
    So dumb.

Edit: I laugh at the people blaming us for being on x server and saying "well you shouldn't of been on a populated server."
Here's my main response to that:

I have nothing else to say to that tbh...Just lmao.
