I mean, they could just say a neutral hi/hello or use autotranslate. Not just ingame, I've noticed that french often outright refuse to speak english, even if they are able to.
And Americans refuse to speak French when they visit France.

I've seen german, italian & spanish people greet or talk in their language in dungeons. And I didn't make a fuss of it.

You assume wrong if you think french people think everyone speak their language, since in fact most people don't learn it or give up since "French too hard to learn Q_Q".

You also assume wrong if you think they "outright refuse to talk in English". They're just bad at English that's all. I know a lot of them so bad they can't form simple sentences without Google Translate lol.

They do the same in LoL since there are no dedicated french servers yet the client is in French there as well. Most french people are bad at English, and the English taught in school is pretty weak as well.

To them, talking in French is also a way to send a signal to other french people. Or they're just too lazy to try speaking in English. Or just too bad at it. There are a lot of specific language FCs in the game. Maybe it's a way for them to get noticed by their fellow countrymen and be recruited in those.

It seems stupid to provide a localized client if you're not gonna provide language specific servers to be honest.

I only have the [E]nglish language in my Duty Finder settings and have seen maybe 1% of my runs with french people openly greeting in French, and most often they were also greeting in English in the same sentence. Unless you selected the [F] option as well, you should not see many french people. If you do see them, that mean they wanted a quicker queue and went the lazy way (since they are unable to communicate in that language, play on PlayStation and have no keyboard and don't talk at all, or don't use the auto translate feature)

Akin to people going in duty finder with zero knowledge of the mechanics and being severely undergeared lol. Lazy people are lazy, they wanna be carried or make no effort, it's not bound to one specific language. Stereotypes are always going strong, but be careful cause you can slip to racism if you're not careful (and it's a bannable offense)
