Just a thought, does the simplification of the game make it harder to balance? for example there really isn't a control mage in the game, since most cc simply doesn't work at all, this (in my opinion) makes the game easier. Since if the control mage was present it would require the development of fights needing that cc to be used. Which means more to do than just pew pew, which is pretty much what mages in general do now. and cc type abilities is something that traditionally in other rpg based games made mages attractive.
