 Bronze/Silver FATE completion for Atma Books

OK this is getting REALLY F*CKING annoying.

I jump on the Coerthas FATE The Taste Of Fear <20% and because it seems to only pop once a week there are like 20 people needing it which means this FATE does not even last ONE MINUTE.

    F*KING SILVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FIX THESE FATES TO ALLOW BRONZE AND SILVER FOR COMPLETION OF ATMA BOOKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it is not fixed by 2.5, i'm gone.

The GOLD completion is not the issue. The fact that the FATE only "pops once a week" is the real issue. If these FATES had any reasonable re-spawn rate, then there would not be 20 people waiting for it, thus, it would not get burned down in only 1 minute. You would then be able to achieve GOLD rather easily.

But some FATEs should spawn once a week or once every few hours. Their rarity makes them special when they appear (please don't lynch me yet, just read on)...
...but they shouldn't be the target of farm quests like the Relic :|. What Squeenix really should have done for the books is just make it so you have to complete X FATEs in the area (maybe specific kinds of FATEs if they wanted to gate things by difficulty). Then behold, the low level zones are alive, I guess.

Alternately, let's not force people to do FATEs at all.

Good idea, I figured bronze and silver recognition would be easier for the development team to implement than change it to something different altogether which might end up being the same head-banging wait as the current book FATE requirement. lol

I just do not see the lore reasoning to "wait around for several hours" and even "clear other FATEs in the area" (which is obviously a huge memory issue, then again why are the same FATEs spawning MORE than the one you need!?)

If I can provide an example as to the BETTER FATEs that should be looked at as the way the other book FATEs should be designed: "Schism" in Outer La Noscea - it spawns by talking to an NPC (this would be ideal for those Whitebrim FATEs), and "Breaching South Tidegate" in Western La Noscea - it always spawns after the (successful?) completion of "Gauging South Tidegate" so you have plenty of time to get there

I also read an idea from another thread, forgot from who though, that suggested that the book FATEs act like leves and you just go to the FATE spawn area and activate it

I think the reason you need Gold is just to prevent people from tagging the FATE and leaving.
I like the book solution proposed above best, but it's still problematic design because you have to limit the book somehow or it results in people spawning FATEs for their low level friends to endlessly farm while they avoid participation so the book will still spawn it.

Really, the core issue is: Using FATEs for quests is just a horrible ass idea. There is no implementation of it that does not suck, there is no way to make it not suck. You can only make it suck less by easing the requirements--make it a general number of FATEs or a FATE that spawns quickly by design. Otherwise, you end up having to screw the entire design to make originally rare FATEs spawn every other second (See Southern Thanalan "He's a Firestarter") to accommodate people who are questing and understandably, don't like to stand around waiting for the damn things.

What we need, is a nice big thread in General that states this problem clearly, says "We don't want to to do FATEs for questing ever again. FIND ANOTHER SOLUTION FOR HEAVENSWARD." and have it accumulate a metric ton of Likes. That's really the only way Square Enix is going to recognize and fix this problem, because clearly the fiascos from Atma, Hildebrand 2.1, Hunts (I'd really love to see how many people actually do the FATE hunts every day--I bet it's a real miniscule number) and Crystal Tower's attunement weren't enough of an eye-opener.

    From the recent live letter:

Q: Waiting on FATEs for Zodiac weapon quests and beast tribe quests take a long time. Do you have any plans to make adjustments?

A: We’ve already made adjustments to FATEs for beast tribe quests and made them so they occur much more frequently, so we do not have any plans to make further adjustments.

We’ve also made adjustments to FATEs for the Zodiac Braves, but we are aware there are instances where the wait time between certain FATEs is long.

This is mainly due to these FATEs being connected to other FATEs and we are planning to split these up and have them occur separately in Patch 2.5.

The system that connects these FATEs is complex in nature, so it will take us a bit of time to adjustment, but please hang in there while we work on this.

I suppose that's an acknowledgement and a band-aid on the issue.
Unfortunately, I only have like 4 books left :P. I guess this will help if I ever get my WHM to Atma again.
