I'm apparently unable to try to play now

After a little time away, I wanted to patch the game and see if anyone in my LS was on but whenever I hit the play button after logging in, it just closes and does nothing. What gives? I haven't changed anything since I last logged in >_<

nothing in that topic helped me. They have a different problem than I do. I don't get a time out. After I hit play, nothing pops up. I've tried doing whatever was in that thread and nothing helped

Tried clearing your cookies and cache for Internet Explorer? Your problem has been (sometimes) fixed by that. Also can try nuking the config files and trying again.

Did all of that, and still nothing

Maybe it's a sign from the MMO gods telling me to not play this game. >_<

Maybe your IE security settings are too high. Do you have cookies enabled?

Cookies are enabled and security settings are at their default settings

What's the signature date of ffxivgame.exe? Should be August, 9th 2011. If this is an older date, the file wasn't updated.

oww... Try changing your settings, i had an issue in beta a bit like that, game window poped up after i hit play but that was it, i had to switch from windowed to full screen, and maybe change resolution though that might have been the flickering issue, I had a couple though beta lol.
I did something else to fix it in the end, if that helps i'll try work out what it was.

Well I'm not sure how to check the signature date of it, and I've tried changing the settings to lowest and both windowed and full screen and still nothing
