You have nothing to be at fault for, and you are not in the wrong for trusting in people to be upstanding. Even if you didn't give out information, there are ways for people to get your information, ways that aren't always legal either. No matter what anyone else says you should do, the fact is, none of them are truly invisible either. I've witnessed my investigators pinpoint the ip address of computers that accessed a university computer wireless system only once. I've seen and heard a neighboring police station pinpoint the location of a cellphone that dialed their system the second it dialed. The movies have it completely wrong. It isn't some long drawn out process. It doesn't take three minutes to trace a cellphone. It takes less than a second. If anyone thinks they aren't "in the system" anywhere, they're wrong. If you have an ID, a car, a gun, a bank account, work, even have a social security card, your information IS out there, but it IS being protected. That doesn't mean there aren't ever leaks, or that there are never any information hacks and attacks. The fact is, there ARE people that will try to get your information, but they don't have to befriend you on a videogame to necessarily do it. That is where we (police departments) come in. To set things right. To restore balance to those attacked. So yeah, try not to give out your information freely, but those attacking this poor girl for trusting someone just a little bit, need to realize that they are not so invisible themselves and should really stop being snobby to this girl.
