    Strange part of the game...

Although it may feel strange to me, but not to many of you. Why is it easy completing a hunting log list 3 levels before you reach the requirements of the next list? (in my case, just earlier, I completed GLA hunting log 2 whilst at Lvl16 (completing took me to Lvl17).

Also, the last 2 Lv30 battles (THM and PGL), were too easy for me.

It's meant to be soloable. When you get higher level content that requires group work you will see how suddenly difficult it becomes when you cannot find good players vs. when you do find good players.

The Hunting log is meant to be another way for players to level, just like dungeons, fates, leves. Before 50 most of the mobs around Eorza are not that hard to kill one vs one been 5 belows below.

Mob levels in FFXIV (and most modern MMOs) are balanced around what you'd expect to be able to easily solo them at, rather than their actual stats vs. the player at that level.

If you're coming from FFXI or such, think of a mob equal to your level as "easy prey" as opposed to an "even match".

Killing mobs while leveling is very easy in this game. You can solo all the quest mobs, hunting logs and even (if you have cure or a chocobo companion) the boss mobs in FATES. Its obvious that this was meant to ease the player into the game and let them be able to solo the mobs to level 50 without any help.

I do remember people having issues with the level 15 storyline boss, but alot of players found this boss to difficult so SE nerfed it before launch.

I always do the hunting logs the moment I can - you get more bang for your buck that way. So, at level 10, I'd clear the rank 2 log, and at 20, I'd clear the rank 3 log, and so on. Even at level 40, I'll usually start finishing my level 5 log immediately (though I'm usually around 42-44 when I finish due to the large exp bonuses). Killing level 50 enemies at level 42-44 is hard, but totally doable solo. And, if solo is too hard for you, definitely with a healer chocobo supporting you.

Mob levels are far from everything in this game. They're a good relative indicator of strength (until level 50, where their true level is hidden), but killing enemies up to 6-7 levels above you should be easy if you know what you're doing. Also, if you're leveling via levequests, I recommend setting the difficulty to the highest possible setting for the highest reward. It shouldn't be much harder to do a level 44 quest at 40 than to do a level 40 quest at 40, so the extra exp is nice.

The only exception is that some classes can't solo the Wanted targets in leves set four levels above them. (MNK in particular has a hard time soloing since their DPS moves require directional requirements that you can't meet solo.) If you notice you're having trouble with the Wanted targets, just ignore them. While it's true that killing the Wanted targets gives a larger exp bonus than the +4 difficulty modifier gives, the Wanted targets aren't guaranteed to show up, and are only there like 20% of the time. The +4 modifier is a more consistent bonus.

Just be warned that FATE bosses are scaled in difficulty based on the number of players to participate in the FATE the last time it spawned. So, while a FATE boss may be easily soloable one time you fight it, the next time you run into it, it could be MUCH stronger.
