Hello Kaes, I am leveling my Black Mage and I would like to share some simple tips with you:

1a. Replace your gear with level 45-50 gear. The trick to replacing them is to be smart and check out the armour merchants. I know that Dungeon gear -----> Crafted gear -----> npc gear, but in this case you realy need to atleast have level 45 gear or else you will keep losing agro. I will now put a summery on how you can replace your gear with the least effort.
1b. First do the level 45 Paladin quest, this quest will reward you with armour that fit the following item slots: Boots, Pants, Gloves and Headgear. Now that you finished the quest, you need to replace the remaning slots. Like I have said before, you should buy them from a:a NPC in the level 45 zone, check the Grand Company (Twin Adders, Maelstrom etc.) or ask someone to craft some armour for you.
1c. Replace the main hand weapon, you should try to always have a weapon that is the same level or 5 levels below you. The shield is fine for a level 47 Paladin.

Oke now that we are done with gearing up, lets go to rotation. This is the rotation that I have used while leveling and its possible that my rotation is not as effective as someone elses, but in the end its all to preference.

2a. This is the rotation that I have used while leveling. First you need to be aware that other players (aka dps) will not be able to read your mind, so they will not know which mobs you want to kill first. This is why alot of dps prefer to see the mobs marked with a number or sign.

2b. Ok, you have marked the mobs and you are ready to unleash the power of the Paladin. This is my rotation for a leveling Paladin:
    Shield Lob
    Flash
    Flash
    Fast Blade
    Savage Blade
    Rage of Halone
    Repeat

2c. Always try to open the fight with Shield lob and do not forget to rotate the Fast Blade -----> Savage Blade -----> Rage of Halone combo on the other mobs. This way will agro all the mobs and keep your agro on them. When a mob goes after another party member, this is when you should cast Provoke, then Shield Lob on them to regain agro.

With this the lesson has concluded.

Now for the video's and I know some players will disagree with me, I advice to not watch them. Its best to be suprised and adapt to the situation. But if you realy want to watch those guides, then I will share a link with you. According to my friends this player has the best guides for FFXIV:ARR. https://www.youtube.com/user/MTQcapture/videos

I hope, this will be of some help to you.

EDIT: When tanking use the Shield Oath buff and when you are off-tanking use Sword Oath buff.
