well honestly that seem like an ok restriction for both QoL and ingame practicality, mages shouldnt be clunkin around it big-ass armor, nor should tanks be wearing rags, unless entirely for comedic purposes that are well thought out, but as per the OP specific example, yeah, if Im already wearing leather or light clothes thos whether I at least look like im wearing parachute pants as a ninja or whatever is no bother to me.

And yet it's perfectly fine for a PLD like me to go running around in mid level gathering gear or attractive swimwear. This double standard against heavy armor has to be stopped. Wake up Eorzea!

I agree. Glamour restrictions need to be reevaluated. Their claim of "We don't want players to get confused" is quite ridiculous.

I'd still rather job/class specific gear to be just that, restricted to those jobs.

Though the restrictions should be consistent across the board; DoW can't glamour DoM equipment, especially when DoW can glamour into DoM (and tanks having the most freedom). Either that, or lift the restriction that prevents DoM from glamouring into DoW.

Or introduce more of those craftable versions that can be used by any class, such as the taffeta or light-steel series.

The whole " we dont want to confuse players" thing is a pretty weak reasoning, but I'm floating more on the (cant find the right word) willing suspension of belief in regards to how your character look in non-seasonal/event items.

See? I wouldn't mind that and those are actually pretty good ideas.

Changing the current system to DoW and DoM which will allow more freedom but still restrict the different discipline like many other games is what I had in mind at first. Either that or create craftable/dyable versions of the same armors... But considering the amount of work that would require, I doubt it'll ever happen.

Not a quest, but rather a reason to get more classes to 50! Get a class/job to 50, that class/job's outfits are unlocked for you.

So want to wear that nice looking BLM jacket on your MNK? Get a BLM to 50!
Good idea too! Glamour should be a reward for something. Either through currency/craftable or through certain questings/leveling up.

At least restrictions would be lifted somehow.

DoM classes can't wear DoW gear, DoW classes can't wear DoM gear and "all class" gear is never DoM nor DoW gear.

All what the devs need to do is bringing less DoW or DoM gear ingame and much more "all class" gear.
As an example, it would be nice to find "all class" gear in the next raid, which don't have only stats for DoM and DoW on it, but also for DoH and DoL ^^

Or just remove clas requirements on gear and bring back the favored classes gearsystem.

I should've specified. Caster gear in the low levels (the one with "all classes" and give caster oriented stats) can be used by all DoW classes; A tank could look like a caster or DRG, but a DRG cannot look like a tank, and a caster cannot look like a DRG or tank.

The problem with having "all class" on gear just to lift the glamour restriction is that...it doens't just lift glamour restriction, but gear restriction as well. We'd see healers with high str, vitality and armor, MNKs wearing DRG gear for higher defense modifiers, etc etc

That would be disappointing, especially in a pay to play game with adult content. I'd be really surprised if they actually said something in that regard at some point. It would make me scratch my head as I looked on that naked tank standing next to me

I agree that my character is a representation of what I would like to see or "reflect" like you said. It's a common theme for players in just about any mmo community. In my opinion the more freedom the better. And like I said, personally, I'd rather it not apply in pvp. But I wouldn't care enough to post about changing it either.

I don't blame anyone for preferring this but I certainly do not. I haven't unlocked glamours yet, but from what I understand I can't have my armorer glamour disciple of war or tank specific gear. That kind of limits what I can do with my own theme for my armorer.

Little stuff like that when it comes to customization makes the game more in depth imo.

The sad part about that whole claim is it went right out the window the moment players could hide their weapons and run around wearing snowman outfits, yukata's and everything under the sun for glamors >_>

Sadly the whole Job identity went out the window when Bikinis, thongs and snowman heads became the norm for everyone to glamor.

I support their idea for a proper Identity when playing, but they allready half assed it and can't fix it without enraging the players further. Eventually glamor restrictions will be released and people will praise the very ground Yoshida walks on for doing so.
