At least we're starting to see some progress. 2.5 introduced these heavy gauntlets that mages can wear.
And look! The world didn't explode!

I think that every melee class except DRG has access to the dyeable version of the Picaroon Set, which was a DRG set itself.
Please... at least stop with the undyeable items ;_; I really want those gloves among other things that are class-locked ; I actually don't want to see the relic gear be available to every class, just the average items you find all over the place. There would be so many possibilities and opportunity for creativity otherwise. I can't comprehend the reluctance over this when anyone can just glamour themselves in nothing more than coeurl Speedos and a Snowman helm and then proceed to tank runs.
I wish we could be able to glamour any gear on any job, as long as we can wear the gear with the job it was intended for.
For example, some really good lvl 50 crafting job outfits are unused, I wish I could glamour those on my healer or monk (as long as I have the job lvld to wear them).

I'd love more options...
I agree this whole job restriction is kind of silly imo. The only other mmo ive played was RuneScape and lemme tell you there was ZERO restrictions hell its hard to compare that to this cus therr werent even classes you could go into battle with mage armo and carry a sword and be like "surprise! I can cast a spell and combo it with my sword! Eat that!" An tbh i kind of miss it, it was very open. RuneScape eventually offeted aglamour system which i used to make my character a ghostly robed adventurer with a awesoome wolf mask.
Sorry I am against the idea. The reason being is that it screws up a little bit of class identity. A paladin should not be wearing Drk armor and vice versa because they are not affiliated with such styles. A healer should not be wearing a plated armor because they are not "conditioned" or known to wear plated armor. I understand that there are some things like eye patches, but some things should stay exclusively to classes to keep their physical identity intact besides their spells or abilities. I am aware of NPC's wearing such armor, but they are done that way to allow them to stick out and be more noticeable than players. Tanks are also known to wear the armor of a healer class or blm class but they are bare minimum armor and are more common for them to wear cloth than a mage or healer to wear plated armor.

I think a nice compromise would be to restrict the AF/AF2 gear like normal but allow the role-restricted gear (soldiery, poetics, law, etc) have their restrictions removed.
