It works out to be a little cheaper subscribing for the 180 days if you buy Crysta and use that to pay for the subscription, which is also available from SE.

You will unlock veteran awards based on how many days you subscribe for, different mounts, minions and such. If you are definitely going to be playing for a long time, go with the 180 day, if you have the funds, but only payment option is by CC or bank card. Welcome to the party.
