Is Ingenuity 2 bugged when it comes to Quality?

hey peeps.

I've been crafting four stars and I've observed that sometimes ingenuity may hinder quality progress.

E.g. 10 Inner Quiet+ Great Strides into a normal BB results in 82ish% chance to HQ

While the same process with IG2 up results in only a 32% chance to HQ.

I did not use any/ did not get any good or excellent procs during these crafts for quality.

Anyone else notice something similar? At other times it actually increased HQ chance to 87ish.

My control is 416.

P.S. Also I know that Ingenuity 2 is rubbish for quality but I have to use it for progress purposes. (I use the two pbp+ 1 careful synth+ 3 ING2 Careful synth method. I hate hasty touch and reclaim enough already that I definitely do not want to include the rng of rapid synth).

Your HQ% will depend on your other moves and HQ ingredients more than INGII. INGII is a flat boost of around 1/15 for 4 stars, 2/15 for 3 stars.

Some numbers for BB, 407 control, first number is IQ count, some numbers may be off by 1 due to calculations after Good condition/Great Strides:

HQ % increases exponentially when you near the maximum quality value. If you had all HQ items, you'd start at half of the quality pool (example, 2950/5900 starting quality), but it only equals to a 15% HQ rate. Nearing the end, even a difference of 300 quality can mean a difference of 10%-15% quality. You'd have to look at your overall quality increase throughout the entire step, what you got from BB, and what your ending quality is.

The way to measure it would be by how much quality that last Byregot's gave you. You would have to make sure all other variables were the same.

And yes, obviously just an observation at this stage, but I'd assume that 10 INQ stacks resulting from 10 normal condition hasty touches would result in the same quality progress?

I'm sure you made a mistake somewhere with your observations and numbers.

I've been selling 4* since day 1 of patch 2.4 and there isn't any abnormality.

Just HOW does Ingenuity (don't have Ingenuity II yet, but it doesn't hurt to ask) affect the level of the recipe? I guess I should back up and ask how the level of the recipe factors into progress and quality?

Unfortunately I can't give you a definitive answer, someone else might be able to and I'd like to know as well. What I can tell you though is that ingenuity lowers the level of the recipe (and ingenuity II lowers it a bit further). This is important because both progress and quality gains suffer when the recipe is above your level.

Again, I forget the exact numbers, but for every 1 level difference you get a % more or less progress than if your level and the recipe were the same. For quality it only works in the negative (recipes above your level get less than normal quality per touch, but recipes below your level do not gain additional quality per touch).

I believe the range is something like 10 levels +/- and then it plateaus. For items up to level 70 this can make a pretty big difference, but at 90+ the gains become smaller (I think ingenuity is barely bringing the recipe level under the plateau). That's my understanding anyway. For low level crafting ingenuity works very well.
