This years Christmas event..

I think you're blowing things out of proportion a bit, I did the daily quests twice and was able to get a minion and all of the gear. The only items I didn't get were the furniture/food but it would have only taken another 2-3 days participation in the span of weeks that the even was on to get those as well.

I hardly call that forcing you to be on every single day, the rewards were very easily obtained with very little effort and the dailies took maybe 5-10 minutes to complete all 3.

I spent more time doing the heavensturn event in total than the christmas event honestly.

I'm more pissed about running these dailies, grabbing a premium starlight bag for all but 2 of the days(minion&clothes) and having nothing to show for it other than 8 marmuk pears and about 2000 gil.

I don't think it was too bad, though I do wish they varied up the kid's location some, and maybe varied up the prize requirements so we'd have impetus to find different trees.

I saved up a weeks worth of premium bags and opened them all at once. I got mostly bronze and two silver pieces lol. I wasn't upset, I had fun just doing the quests and hanging out in the celebration areas. To me the event was a success.

No one is forcing anyone to do anything. It's an optional seasonal event, you're also given the option of what to buy with your stars.
