    Saying this game shouldn't be like other games doesn't make sense because it already borrows a lot from other games of its genre. But then again, so does almost any game in any genre. It just happens that way. I'm not saying SE should only take things from other games, just that an idea isn't inherently bad just because it comes from another game.

    As for astrologian, it would be cool to see it have something unique that makes it feel like something more than just a healer with new names for the same types of healing abilities that the other two jobs already have. Since you can clearly see its weapon having cards, maybe there might even be luck-based elements to its support abilities. Something along the lines of your next spell or current effect being enhanced depending on the face of the card being drawn, etc.

    Kidding aside... they LITERALLY said when creating this game that they drew inspiration from WOW and Other MMO's when creating this game.

    As for the auto targeting healz bit. That was just how that game was because you were busy doing a combo system and you only had 8 powers at a time to use for anythign else. You had to have that feature because you were focusing on combos. Not saying that feature needed included.

    Was more about being a HOT (healing over time) healer, that had burst heal mechanics.

    So wait auto attack, tank, healer, dps is an original concept that ffxiv created and replenishing other characters health bars and tank doing abilities to mitigate damage/hate and dps doing skills to deplete you opponents health to 0 is new to any game besides ffxiv cocaine is a hell of a drug. The only difference is the look of the animations those skills do, beyond that mechanic wise it the same for almost any game you can name.

    It's an "original" kind of healer but seems to me totally uninteresting way to play healer because you just have stack pre-heal over time on the other players of the party and don't really have to care for them anymore.
    Sure you can spend all your time to dps but if you like to dps, why didn't you roll dps.

    My distaste of "can't we just do [x] from [y]" suggestions aside, I can sort of see Astrologian playing like what you brought up, if not solely because it would carve it a fairly distinct niche from White Mage (identified by its powerful burst heals) and Scholar (identified by its damage prevention), so a class that outshines the other two in heal-over-time effects would carve itself a distinctive niche. And "bursting" those effects is definitely a mechanic I've seen in a number of places that could be an effective way to add more complexity.

    Only time will tell.

    I'd rather have a healer that can target two people and while he damages the mobs, he would heal the other targetted one. Ofcourse nothing game breaking, their healing and damage potency should be about 20 points less than a dps and healer.

    The thing I hope with astrologian is something special with the tarot cards. Certain combinations will either be a healing, debuff, buff or damage attack.

    Cure 3 can already heal multiple people for less potency. Same for both medica spells.
