    adding more versitility to jobs.

Ok I love the job system of ff11 bc even tho I would play a specific class it was different from another.for example each summoner wasn't the same. There was a bit more versitility. For example I played Smn/Redmage while some people play Summoner/WhiteMage. So how could square change this?

What if we add more cross class skills to jobs we have and give them a wider selection of skills or maybe making each job have a secondary role that we could spec into. For example wat if we can spec warrior into a dps or bard as a healer. I mean some iconic jobs like white mage, black mace, and paldin won't gain a second role. But still I would like to play my warrioras a dps.

Even though the armory system promotes versatility and cross classing, SE is clearly not playing that way as they take balancing a very high priority in this game. More options means more difficult to balance content and they are steering away from it.

Basically this. Your choices are the freedom to jump into whichever class you want, less variance within each class.

Variance in how to develop each class sounds nice, but the reality is that generally speaking, there's just a 'right' answer and a 'wrong' answer when choices are given like that. Consider Monk, which has Fists of Fire, Earth, and Wind, only one of which you can be in at any given moment. Being a class oriented around dealing damage, you shouldn't actually ever be in Earth or Wind except for a few moments where you, for whatever reason, can't be doing DPS (or are too low level to have Fire).

The more variables there are on players, the more ways they have to screw it up and the more balance concerns there are to take into account over the grander scope of class vs class balance.

guild wars 2 would like a word with you sir, and the the gear sets can also have specs as well if coded right.

the point is maybe someone wants to run around dps as pld or tank as drg(possible with speccing, role tabs, dcuo role buttons)

gw2 could have a trinity system where any class/prof is a tank/healer/derp, theres just the problem with hate management

14 could have freedom added so people could use a class the way they want, it just requires some creativity

I didn't play FF XI, but you could play as a job and a secondary job only, right?
I prefer the style of FFXIV where you can play as all classes/jobs with the same character and cross class skills. I'd like a way to change roles in the game, like if you were a GLD and use a MNK crystal to change to DPS or a WHM crystal to change to Healer. It would have obviously bad choices, like choosing a INT char to use a STR crystal, but some combos would be awesome! It could really help with future solo content. There's that balancing issue though...

in 11 you needed to go to your house to change classes(and add secondary), they made it anywhere you want job change in 14, but both have the same 1 character with all classes system

Unfortunately this isn't gw2 and getting rid of the trinity that is embedded in almost all of the game's stuff would be difficult to say the least.

While I wouldn't mind a little more...freedom in the form of more interesting cross class abilities, it would take some balancing.

i didnt mean remove trinity, i meant make 14 have more complexity, by adding about 10-30 toggle-able traits that changes the nature of many skills already inherent, you can make a parry/block heavy counter tank that auto counters, or a reflex heavy class(turn cds into shorter and stronger skills emphasizing response time), or even a sch/whm with procced thorns/reflect damage to heals, all while still being what they are at their core, even if you do happen to go for dps styled pld like i would, because i love swords.

it would be too hard to convert/add the mmo 2.0/3.0 standard found in gw2, atleast outright without backlash from those who left wow/rift for 14.

on the otherhand the real easy way is make/add a 2.0/3.0 mmo standard like the legacy and autolock options(but added to actions and traits), and hopefully get a manual dash for autolock so we dont have to turn off auto lock per dungeon boss fight(look at sao for vita on that)

I did hear that some classes in the future will have dual roles how would they aproach that.

Ya know if you think about it, Square's trinity system is pretty damn good. I mean if you look at what we have now and where we started it's obvious they've been a polishin'. They might approach it aggressive and progressively. It's a nice set up, just has no teeth. I think it has a lot of potential to support a support role introduced in the future.

I mean, no one ever really says they don't like this part of the game. Some of the hard core raiders just feel a little unchallenged, I can understand that.

All critics really ever say about customization and end game is: "it's bland and boring" and "I just do one thing and finish too quickly". Ya know, stuff my wife says.
