-Can do large AoE once every 5 minutes

I would say you example SCH do more dmg because your example SMN don't use pets

As with both classes, proper pet usage, macro usage, and skill combinations make all the difference.

For instance, on scholar, make transitions between dps phases and healing phases easier using target of target macros, so you never have to switch from your tank. In your DPS macros include your fairy's Embrace on your main target, so that she will focus on keeping your tank up while you DOT the enemy your tank is targeting for the Bane. Before you begin your DPS phase, be sure to combine Rouse with Whispering Dawn for added AOE HOT incase your DPS derp it up by accident.

Then, on Summoner, combine your pet DPS cooldowns with skills like Rouse and Spur. You should already be using your pet on obey, so this should be easy. Always, ALWAYS combine ALL of your main single target DOTs with Contagion and Bane when using Garuda against multiple enemies. Feel free to switch between pets too for the situation. Single target, try Ifrit, trash pulls use Garuda. Summoner also does much better with stats such as Determination and Crit Rate, and many pieces of gear feed them Spell Speed, which, while not useless, might as well be in comparison to the other two. Crafted gear can be customized, utilize it when you run the risk of using crappy gear otherwise.
