Why did SE decide to make the three new classes not require base classes?

short answer -- new race, new town, new expansion starter area, needs new starter jobs that don't exist in the typical 3 Eorzea states.

long answer -- This is better for the game. Currently, queue times are horrifically skewed, the best thing this expansion can do currently is make Tank/Heals a more popular and populous path.



Also, Square never said Dark Knight / Astro / Gunner won't have class paths. They just said they're not classes, they're starter jobs.

SE stated the Dark Knight / Astrologian and Machinist won't have base classes because they limit the design of jobs and they have to design new classes for all three of them.
