I like that the new jobs are jobs only, it gives S-E more quests to help flesh out the story for that particular job instead of having two separate sets of stories needed to complete the job (one for classes, the second for the job). I will admit though, I found the class stories are better than the job stories from what I've seen so far so I hope the new job storyline will be equally as enjoyable. Here's hoping.

Off-topic, there's a little bit of delicious irony involved here knowing that Fran Seara is a "Pro-Class / Anti-Job" player, yet has finished a Zodiac weapon that can only be equipped by a JOB and not the class itself. Based on post history, I'm beginning to think Fran is just a troll though @.@

Kuwagami, We may never agree on this but I do understand what you're saying. Maybe its because I didnt start playing untill way after 1.0. So, some of us and I don't have knowledge of the old systems what were in place. What I see is that some players just wanna throw away the stories I've and maybe we have enjoyed for the pass year. I'm all for change but why waste time changing the past. Let's move foward, the Jobs will be Jobs and most of us will be happy. If ES can somehow keep classes in the but "Soup" them up some I'd be happy. If not I'll just go away. (I'am sure that would make some of you happy) I reason I hate BRD. I hate support jobs. After getting the BRD stone I grow to hate playing has bard and started to play mostly solo with Archer. I only join groups that invite me and are willing to live with me playing ACR If you dont like that dont invite me to your group. Luckly most players on my server understand that.

ps:I hope we'll be able to agree on something One day.

I don't think most of us want to get rid of the stories. Heck, I love the PGL, ARC, CNJ, and ROG stories, for example. If anything, I'd like to see the class stories do a better job leading into the job stories (ROG I think did a fairly good job). At the same time, though, I don't see any compelling reason to keep the classes and jobs as separate entities.

I just recently introduced a bunch of friends to FFXIV.

They don't seem to mind having to level multiple classes to make a job. It makes the job feel "special" in that they needed to go the extra mile to earn it.

That said, I can see why classes don't make much sense, moving forward. After all, if barely any of the classes are going to wind up at the end game, why have them?

If a class was heavily differentiated from its job counterpart(s), that'd be one thing, but that's rarely the case: a SMN/SCH is really just an ACN with a few extra abilities tacked on.

Unfortunately, right now the stories surrounding class-job separation is the only thing keeping SE from dropping the established classes.

The class guild helps us to step into the world and city it is based in, and there is nothing saying the story surrounding the new jobs won't do the same for Ishgard.

Well best we can tell now these new Jobs may have the same requirement as Rogue unlock, being require lvl 10 to unlock Armory for new characters.

Not to mention their location is unknown and being Jobs these new Jobs may not have Guilds in a City State like the classes so the Job Trainer location is most likely out in the world or in a specific location.

    Good point!

It could also allow the way players enter the game brand new remain as is, going through the same tutorial. It would be way easier on SE that way.

Although, since we are on the subject, it makes me wonder how we will gain our new skills when the cap is raised. I've only gotten a few jobs unlocked, but in all of their cases, their storyline is tied up rather neatly. Will we perhaps have a new NPC to learn from?

Most Job storyline do tie up their current story nicely but they also provide hints to the next part of their Job story for lvl 51 to 60.....

Warrior story, for example, shows you a girl and the Warrior Trainer's brother at the end of the lvl 50 Job Quest cutscene. The little girl is most likely suffering from trauma from what happened now due to almost being killed and his brother is getting help to control his power but this incident most likely has a long term effect with people's trust in him due to this rampage.

Ninja story also leaves a hint for the next story being about discovering the Legendary 4th mantra which was shown in the lvl 50 Ninja quest.

Paladin story has yet to be resolved because now the Paladin Trainers are on a journey to recover the Paladin order sacred sword from this Cult.

Summoner Story will most likely focus on finding this mysterious Ascian that corrupted Tristan.

Scholar story will most likely focus on dicovering the cure for the mysterious illness that turns people into Tonberries
