sometimes antlions do get close to the roads, but they are VERY easy to avoid unless you dont pay attention

There are still occasional antlings near the path to the west of Camp Horizon and near the narrow winding path that leads to Camp Drybone -- not always, but they are there at times. I just ran past the Drybone antlings yesterday while doing a Mining Guild quest.
Anyway, in the lower level areas especially, I think Square Enix is being considerate of people who play DoL classes. It's very frustrating if you can't complete a leve because there are dangerous mobs keeping you from your task.
If anyone wants danger, just try going to reach one of the off-the-beaten-path far flung aetheryte gates by yourself or even with a friend or two. Goobbues, Drakes, Raptors, etc. etc. Very exciting! ^^
You made a good point about DoL being defenseless against ambush. I just re-read the latest letter from the producer though and found out that DoL is getting sneaking abilities to be able to harvest in peace. The whole letter seems to me to be hinting at an expansion of beastmen throughout the areas, and a more dangerous world. I think what would really be exciting is roving parties of beastmen in higher level areas. Who wouldn't want party vs party combat? There are still occasional antlings near the path to the west of Camp Horizon and near the narrow winding path that leads to Camp Drybone -- not always, but they are there at times. If you afk in this game, you have the possibility of getting banned. I fear for my character's life every time I go to pee or get a drink of water.

So how do I get to to Quarrymill on my R26 character..? I've been looking and looking for a way but all the ways are tiny tiny little alleys filled with R50-75 Scorpions, Salamanders, think there were some Raptors? But yeah, there's literally no path I can find that I can safely travel. I'm so looking forward to this DoL stealth ability.
If you don't think new summoner is better, you're playing the wrong game.
not that i would want a bunch of hard arrgo type enemies. but i do miss in ffxi when i 'd go outside of windhurst and stray to far as a low lvl and get a gob or yagudo on me but i liked that the aggroing mobs weren't like 20+ lvls higher..... (antlion)
so when i did get creamed, i could lvl up a lvl or 2 and go kick some beastman behind...... i know they are changing things.... (haven't read full details) so i hope they make it more like this.... not saying there shouldn't be higher one like the antlion... (keeps us on our toes.) but some lower lvl one helps...
ps. granted from a harvesting pov i guess i understand the hatred of aggro mobs..... i've raised a few people who ended up on the wrong end of angler or chigoe aggro... so i that could get annoying.. but i still miss the lower beastmen mobs like in ffxi
It seems you are going through the path going past Toto-Rak when you SHOULD be going south of that. There's no aggro mobs south of quarrymill, so you should try that way.So how do I get to to Quarrymill on my R26 character..? And back on topic, I have been ambushed by so many mobs.
Gnats, poachers, wolves, footpads, bee swarms... and that's all pre-r30s areas. Wait until you get to the r36 story quest. You can just stroll along to Mor Dohna, its so safe (/sarcasm)
When all else fails, Heck the Bed.
Near & Around Camp Bald Knoll (LL), there's an assortment of clusterf!*k groups that aggro too.
If you go from Camp Tranquil and head east, then go up the ramp and follow the maze a bit, you will come out a bit south west of Quarrymill and can proceed from there. There are no aggro monsters along that path.So how do I get to to Quarrymill on my R26 character..? Back to the main topic, there is quite a bit of adventure to be had if you go looking for it.
There are many aggressive monsters all over the map, especially if you go off the main roads.
Make it a game of trying to get to any of the more remote aetheryte gates by yourself and you can have quite an adrenaline rush. ^^
Getting to Mor Dhona on foot can be fun too.
A friend and I tried to get there from the western shroud, and had to run past a morbol, drakes, raptors and efts. It took us about 10 tries, but we finally made it -- my friend, a R50 Gladiator, with just 2 HP left on the last dash!
Sometimes it's nice to put aside the leveling and item rewards, and just explore and have fun. ^^
