Thanks for the replies, it's always nice to hear other crafters' experience.
About “turning away from Aldgoat Billy”, I tried that but it was more time consuming than hiding the Action Bar, as I had to turn away and then turn back (also, sometimes I attack even if I'm turned around...): like I mentioned, after the implementation of auto-attack I simply have to slow down the pace of combat against mosnters that requires head incapacitation for drops.
While for the attribute associated to the tool, I know it should work, but in my case it didn't, at least pumping Piety to 181 didn't grant me any benefit (I also did other tests in the past), like I explained in my journal post. If maybe the stat has to be over 200 (not over 9000, I hope!), I don't know, but 181, considering how much time it takes to lower it when you're done, seems pretty high to me... or is it not?
About Touch Ups: Yes, it's somewhat easier to obtain a HQ Finished Item, but as you can see from the Brass Rings +2 reported in the link in my first post, there's clearly something not working properly, if I could get 3 in a row with just one or a few more Touch Ups (and like I documented, those went directly from NQ to HQ2). There're also many other times that Touch Up didn't really seem to work, even if used 10 times with a high ending Quality, but that's another story (I partly documented it in my other two “Unexplainable Synthesis Results” entries)...
I think it's time to receive some official explanation, Mg. Craftsmanship and the HQ random mechanics are just two examples of the lack of information on this subject and I'd like to know if there're plans to adjust this for 1.19 alongside the recipes' fixes.
And I'm reporting this because I really enjoy crafting! In fact, that's my main profession in Eorzea and, in addition to the satisfaction in creating something by yourself, I always do with pleasure those 8 local levequests every 36 hours.Just, I'd like to have more information and eventually improvements to the HQ mechanics, to reward more the efforts of those adventurers who put much commitment in trying to create HQ materials.
