I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

Shame to, he was pretty much the backbone of the company.

As mentioned by some already, people need to realize you can't go back to the past by just changing a name.
That's like thinking a girl who was called Olymphusine Horriblenamingsense by her parents, who changed her name to Paris Onenightin as soon as she was old enough, and who was teased in horrible ways because of it, would become the innocent young girl again just by changing her name back to Olymphusine.
All those memories of being bullied would still be there, everything she did while her name was Paris is still there.
She's NOT the same Olymphusine as before.
Square Enix could call themselves CocaCola for all I care if that name wasn't protected yet.
It wouldn't change a thing about what kind of games they make, how good those games are or anything else.
Even if they called themselves Squaresoft again, it wouldn't be the Squaresoft you once knew.

The world is no longer square, and this change won't make it so.
That being said, didn't they get copyrights on the "Square" moniker back when they made Final Fantasy: Spirits Within? and it was going to be their movie branch or some jazz? Had a different logo and everything, and then the movie was a colossal flop?
All in all, if they try to re-brand as Square all I imagine it will mean is that they paid some lawyers a bunch of money and it won't change anything in the actual business end.
...and I won't get to call 'em Squenix anymore.
For the people for rebranding: it's completely useless if the company acts the same.
A company with a new logo producing the same old stuff is still going to produce the same old stuff.
No one expects the miquote inquisition!!!

The crew of Xenogears.Besides Sakaguchi, who exactly are you missing?

Make it happen.

Xenogears wasn't part of Final Fantasy and had no bearing on the comment I responded too.
They already announced that they were reorganizing all their Production Teams to influence and ensure better quality of the games they release. Thats why they dropped about 10 games from their "In production" lists about 4 months ago.

Which games were those?
Anyways this can be a good sign, but it may or may not do anything for end quality depending on what they've done.

They say they lost 55 million on lost investment for the games they dropped do to quality.
The ones I could find were Gunloco, Project Dropship, and a few "Unnamed projects"
