I am 50/50 with this statement. I would like to think that this means they are going to try to go back to their roots and by doing so something along the lines of Squaresoft will be born again. Only problem with that apparently all these gaming sites seem to think JRPGs are a dying breed and I think that not be the case. Games go in cycles just like everything else atm WRPGs have taken over but I JRPGs will always be around we just need a new wave of story weavers and good old fashioned JRPG elements and hopefully we will see them come back to their former glory. Time will only tell.

It looks like that list of trademark tasks is missing the stuff from Playarts. Theres no mention of Toys, Action Figures, Figurines or anything similar.

I think its just a mere name change, they are going to operate the same way they have been for years. Only thing is, people are only going to suspect that Square made a takeover, which doesn't seem to be the case at all.

It's short, sweet, and reminiscent of Square Soft without actually being Square Soft. With a play on the classic logo it could be a good thing.

i think originally they wanted to name them self "Squire Soft" it fits the theme of their games and all but as it sometimes happens with japanese english speakers, Square Soft came out :P

Felt their brand was just getting larger based on the fact they are publishing so many games now coming from Edios. Sure a rebranding couldn't hurt too much, though just being called Square is rather plain, but could work. I would like it as Squaresoft, but might be looking for a name the represents different things such as toys and movies.

Pretty much, Very few people use "Soft" in their names anymore besides people like Microsoft who are so large branded that they would never change their name.
