I am a Level 50 BARD but I now want to become a healer...

    Hi,

So I leveled up a Elf Bard to Level 50. I am Item Level 94 so I have done SOME end-game but not all of it.

Anyways, I wanted to try my hand at healing as well. So I bought a Phantasia thing and recreated my character into the cat-race.

But I noticed his base-city and job is still Archer...does this matter?

Also, is it easy to level up a second class? I would LOVE to be a Level 50 White Mage when the new expansion comes out. Keep in mind I have a full-time job and a kid so I can;t play endlessly! haha

I was off during the Summer and blazed through my first run...but I did sink a lot of time into it.

Thanks for your comments about the above. Have a great day!

Hi, Shang, I just wanted to respond,, you don't have to fantasia to change jobs at all, actually! All you have to do is hop over to gridania and and go to the Conjurer's Guild and accept the quest there (make sure you have at least 1 slot open in your armor chest/inventory) you can change jobs by simply swapping to the wand they give you.

That said, it's fairly easy to level a second class, since you have immediate access to things like levequests and stuff. There's also a TON of side quests littered around each area for you to find and do. If you need any further help I'll do the best I can to assist you

You are able to play all classes on a single character without losing any progression. You do not need to use a fantasia at all, the only thing fantasia allows you to do is change the race/gender of your character which does not really matter because the stat differences are pretty negligible.

In each city there are several guilds for various classes (limsa has arcanist for scholar and gridania has conjurer for white mage). All you have to do to unlock additional jobs is visit the respective guild and do the quest in that guild. Once you unlock a new job you can change to it by simply changing your main hand weapon.

As for leveling up I recommend a mix of FATEs, levequests and dungeons. Do your duty roulette low level and guildhest once per day for an additional exp reward.

It took me about 3 days of grinding hard to get ninja to 50 so you should have more than enough time to other jobs to 50 prior to the expansion.

Gotta be at least partially a troll... If he's a Bard, he knows how to switch jobs because he must have leveled PUG to 15... So he knows how to start in a new guild and change classes.

If he's somehow forgotten all of this well... Yeah. See above. XD

Ummm, not a troll. I was asking more about the fact that the Fantasia potion does not change your starting class. I was asking if that matters. And I was also asking about the speed at which you could level a second character. Is there a "bonus" or something. I am a grown man who is not hardcore--I have no time to screw around on internet video game forums. What I have liked about this forum page is how nice everybody is. It is refreshing and not common on video game message boards.

Your starting classs only effects a new character on which city you can start in.

Forgive my skepticism, then. Yeah, Fantasia doesn't change your class/job. Just your race. There IS actually a bonus to the XP you get for leveling classes/jobs that are lower than your maximum class/job, so the WHM will level faster than the BRD did. As a healer, your best bet is to do instances until you're ill or totally bored. At the very least get on for an hour a day and do the low-level roulette and you'll be 50 long before the expansion. FATE grinding can also be very effective, but I find this a lot more boring than instance grinding, which is, at least, always slightly different.

When you queue up for dungeons, also queue up for Guildhests. You will receive a one time bonus for every time you do One, with a different class. So that will also help you out quite a bit when your low level. Please also do not forget your hunting logs, not only will completing them give you a i55 ring when your done, it will also speed things up quite a bit.

Good luck on your travels Shang Tsung.

Levelling other jobs is very easy expecially on healer and tank classes and even more so if you already jave a lvl50 as all instances give 50% more exp with secondary classes but if your rolling white mage then youll need thaumaturge and arcanist levelled at least to 34 as theres cross class skills from those that are absolutely necessary for a whm later on.
