I hope they nerf the shit out of light farming. Man, is that hella boring :<
And yes, I already have one weapon at nexus. No, I don't care if people can get their's faster if they nerf the whole quest line again.

From what all the people that completed the relic or are continuing to do them, your reward is the grind. Wanting people to have to do the same thing you did just to be able to get the new relic quest is absurd and selfish. Like one poster said, why would they do that to make people have to farm old content that you and others will not even play anymore..unless you want them to force you to play said content over again doing more RNG grinding. The whole point of them creating new relic quest is to fix the awful system they have in place now. Yes you spent all your time doing it. Like many hardcore enthusiast have said, it was your choice. You should have known that it was a possibility that they would end it. So you just will have a type of weapon that most people probably won't have. Braggin rights. Congrats. But to alienate a large portion of the community so you can have something to brag about...I don't think SE wants that. It would in now way be fair to anyone who either hasn't had the time or just started to force them to have to do content that, even though they nerfed the requirements, they didn't nerf the damn DF times. So any nerf they add is cancelled out by having to wait to do content that not many are doing when you started your relic quest. So, best thing they could do? Revamp relic system, reintroduce it with new expansion, and for all of the Hardcore that are upset that it makes their relic weapon they spent months working towards( which are already obsolete anyways), take one for the team. But then that should be the reward for those who put the time and effort into the current Zodiac questline, maybe don't make it so it's an integral part of 3.0 but more likely an optional questline where-in if you happen to have a finished Zodiac weapon from 2.0 then good news we'll be continuing/supporting the expansion of the Legendary weapons in 3.0 which will take them onto a whole new level surpassing even the Zodiac Braves status of weaponry.
Has anything official been stated about a Relic/Legendary weapon questline in 3.0 out of curiosity, I'd like to get an official statement on it so I can either be appeased or pissed off prior to 3.0's launch :P
Well it already has come to an end, Zodiac is not relic anymore its totally diffirent weapon. But yeah i could see SE making Relic Reborn 2.0 for Zodiac weapons in expansion, that way those who has done it already can skip next Titan HM and zenith part(2.51 adds "zenith" part for zodiac)and those who doesnt have it can skip these older parts via quest chain similiar to relic reborn. I would be totally cool with this.

Someone is not selfish if they don't want to see the earlier stages nerfed. They earned their weapon. Obtaining a rare weapon / gear is part of the fun of an MMO.
If SE is going to further nerf the earlier relic stages - then it becomes hugely inefficient to ever be current with your relic weapon. Why should someone spend 200+ hours upgrading a weapon (that has never been exclusively the highest item level) if someone else can simply wait 6 months or so and do it in 10-20? The zodiac weapons rarity are their appeal. You can clear "all" of the content In the game without the most current relic. You would save hundreds of hours of time by simply staying 6 months behind and unlocking glamour models of the relic once the quests get nerfed. If the quests continue to get nerfed - then there's currently little reason to be current.
Ii feel that it is selfish for someone to think that they are entitled to a relic (and spend substantially fewer hours.)
Ummm... because once you get that final version of the weapon (final as in at that moment in time until the next patch) you will have one of the best weapons in the game.
I have friends who are just starting final coil right now and they have an i125 weapon. As of now, there is no other way to get higher than i115 without beating the first two turns. The other "slackers" can wait 6 months but having something 10 ivls higher at the time is pretty worth it if you have been following with the quest line each patch.
Could you imagine having to farm lights again when NO ONE is doing it?
Also, some people do it for the vanity, completion, etc. Not everyone is about having the best weapon in the game, some just like vanity and what not a lot of other people have.
You can beat T13 with an item level 110 weapon (the relic is not needed). "Most" people who have been grinding relic weapons right now are finishing their novus / working on nexus, while the hardcore are fully caught up. A large chunk of people spent a good 30-100 hours on atma, a good 75+ hours on animus, a good 75+ on novus, etc. The appeal of these weapons are that not everybody will have them due to the fact that a lot of work is required to earn them. That's the entire appeal. This isn't overcoming a challenge (which you can justify a nerf)...it's overcoming a grind. You don't need relics to beat T13 or any of the difficult content. You make relics easier to earn - and you kill all incentive to keep current with them.
Everyone might as well just work on their relics whenever the stages get nerfed. Why should animus and novus get nerfed when there are still countless people working on them and investing the full amount of time? A game is allowed to have missables. How many people have a Dalamud Horn from defeating Nael Van Darnus? Probably not a lot. I don't see the community in an uproar. Falling wayyyy behind on a relic is technically not a missable per se.
The point of the relic is to be used as a tool to bridge gaps not for looks.
A person putting in "200+" hours broken up over a few patches for multiple useful upgrades =/= to a person being forced to put in "200+" hours all in 1 go before 1 useful upgrade.
useful .... |..work..|.....useful.... |..work..|....useful.... |..work..| ....useful....
is not the same as
unusable|..work..|..work..|..work..| ....useful.....
Some compression needs to be done to help catching up so that a relic can be used as a solution instead of being 1 more problematic obstacle to overcome.
unusable|work|work|..work..| ....useful....
Just because there are some nerfs to old parts doesn't mean there is any lack of work put in before the weapon is relevant.
I hope they don't nerf this quest too much. Being a Non-Hardcore Endgamer, I feel this quest is doable if you put the time in. Small nerfs here there and there wouldnt hurt too much. More lights from stuff and cheaper GC stuff would help.
ps: Most endgamers hate when the Devs nerfs the Coils so why should we non-endgamers want this quest nerf'ed? Make em sweat or wait!!
because its not the same. When most people started this quest, everyone was on the same page. There were many people queuing for dungeons and working the fates needed. Yes they put in the time, but time spent "waiting" was way lower than what it is now. I know, i started mine about 5-6 months after everyone else and there was still lots of people doing the old content, farming for atmas, etc. The reason why its pointless to make people that have not done so and are new to the game do it now is because not only is the grind still there(Please don't comment with "oh its easier to grind, and since this patch and that patch...its still a considerable amount of time) but now there are fewer people to do old content so new players can even complete this relic. I mean you can spend up to an hour waiting for just a queue into a dungeon. Fates aren't being run as much. And for what? A weapon that is definitely only for glamour because you can get a more powerful, if not the same power lvl, weapon in a fraction of the time.I hope they don't nerf this quest too much. Being a Non-Hardcore Endgamer, I feel this quest is doable if you put the time in. Small nerfs here there and there wouldnt hurt too much. More lights from stuff and cheaper GC stuff would help.

Its in SE best interest to start a new relic weapon type quest line and all you people that have your nexus or Novus or whatever it is, you still will have it, its just a vanity piece. SHow it off, its rare. But as of right now, you don't need it to complete endgame and for most the work doesn't justify the very slight boost in stats for the time spent at this point in the game Essentially, it's a true time sink with no reward except "hey i did it" and maybe an achievement.
