    I want to stop playing Summoner.... But I cant

    I dont enjoy it, I feel like a massive liability to the team. Whenever I join a group I feel like people are going "ugh, gotta carry this stupid Summoner." The only reason I havnt dropped the class was because I did the first stage of the relic for the job at the time i enjoyed summoner, but as time went on I couldnt shake the feeling that I was becoming more aware of how bad the job is. And I just didnt have anything to offer. When the tank does big pulls I always feel like I'm going "Dont worry! Let me slowly and gruelingly kill these!"

    SMNs never need carrying.

    Far from it. You sound like you want to play a BLM though.

    If so go for it. But SMNs never need carrying, nor are they weak. If you enjoy it, improve enough so you dont feel like a stupid SMN xD.

    All about the player, not the class.

    Couldn't say it better myself. I've never felt like a liability except on certain dungeon (stupid Tam-Tara HM). Honestly OP, if you're getting hung up on dungeon speed runs then you should switch to BLM. If you really really want to play summoner here is a good rotation for big pulls. raging strike > swiftcast shadowflare > miasma II > (bI + bII + M + contagion + Bane) > (spur/rouse + aerial slash) > cycle target till you find one that isn't DoTed and add (bI + bII + M + Bane). You can even use Aerial Blast if you aren't saving it for bosses.

    If you play well, any dps class with be fine to do great damage (some like SMN with added support such as raise etc), if you play bad, you'll need carrying regardless of the class.

    1. SMN is great. Don't let anybody tell you differently. Especially those whining about MP problems who refuse to just suck it up and lose 10-15 DPS in order to actually have mana in the longest fights.

    2. Bane is literally the greatest thing. People call BLM+BLM the king of speedruns, but I'd actually claim that BLM+SMN is better. It's the perfect blend of AOE madness and Single Target destruction.

    Black Mage has better single target damage then the Summoner since they got buffed in 2.2 and have better sustained DPS then the Summoner.

    BLM has to lower their dps in order to regain MP (ice/mp regain is a huge dps loss), whats the difference?

    You can't really expect to use Fester for every aether stack in a long fight.

    First, 9000 damage is chump change in the Final Coil, where bosses start with 900k and quickly climb to over 1 million HP each, which doesn't even include adds. Second, a SMN loses more damage by running out of MP than by using Energy Drain. Whining about using Energy Drain is equivalent to a BLM whining about having to move in the middle of a fight.

    Also, BLM's have better sustained DPS than every DPS class in the game. It's literally their thing.

    9000 Damage is a lot... that is an LB or easily a wipe to enrage. Regardless it is low, DPS should be balanced to some degree.

    SMN loses damage either way

    And, Sorry it is not that equivalent at all....
